This says she was suffocated to death.
(Sounds like a pillow maybe) but the ME says asphyxiation. Are they one in the same?

The two are pretty much synonymous, as both mean refer to CO2 deprivation.

The state or process of being deprived of oxygen, which can result in unconsciousness or death; suffocation.

Smothering would be one means of asphyxiation, for example, covering someone's face with a pillow.
Manual strangulation would be another means of asphyxiation, as would ligature strangulation.

There are actually numerous causes of asphyxia:

So, the writer saying she "was suffocated to death" in that article was probably just an attempt to put it in layman's terms for the reader…there's probably a fair percentage of the population who can't even pronounce the word "asphyxia," much less know what it means.

LE hasn't said HOW she was asphyxiated, though, so we don't know if she was smothered with a pillow, was strangled, etc.

I'm wondering whether there was evidence either of a violent struggle inside the home and/or on her body, i.e., bruises around her neck, arms, etc.

The fact that the ME ruled it a homicide means there's some type of evidence that she didn't asphyxiate herself.

• I don't think KO was sexually assaulted.
• I do think KO knew her killer.

What a beautiful young woman, and it sounds like she was a great Mom.
I think this one is going to be solved quickly; let's pray so.
Prayers for her parents and loved ones, who must be profoundly grieved.

I have an idea or two.

It may be that her parents felt like they had received all the necessary funds to help provide for KO's daughter's future needs.

It may be that the family had decided upon a set period of time to keep it active.

There may have been other factors that prompted her family to shut down the monetary pipeline.

"And that's all I have to say about that," as our pal Forrest would say.

I wondered the same. They look like typical condolence comments.

The fact that she was in bed makes me wonder if a door was left unlocked and that is how the perp got in. It doesn't mean it was random--could still be someone known to her, and it just got easier for them because they could walk right in and startle her rather than having to force or talk their way in upon her answering the door. Like I'm wondering if she was in bed watching TV or taking care of stuff like bill-paying, etc. and the perp snuck in on her. Or is it possible she didn't sleep well the previous night so she decided to take a nap after her daughter left.

I guess another possibility, if she let the perp in, is the killer forced her into the bedroom and into bed. You would think there would be some sort of signs of a struggle, but who knows?

I do think it is someone known to her, to know she would be at home at that time of day and on that particular day. Also, they would most likely know her parents wouldn't be there, right? Do her parents typically leave for the majority of the day or was it a random coincidence they were gone that day (like decided to go out running errands or something)?

LE has put out an appeal for information, and Crimestoppers is offering a $$$ reward for tips.

But if what you're asking is whether or not her family has asked the public for assistance, I haven't come across any MSM articles where her family has asked the public for information to help LE find KO's killer.

That may change with time…we'll see.

In the case of the 8 year old boy recently frozen and abused in moriches the go fund me was taken down once the father was arrested or about that time. So many avenues and no gossip or facts

LE begins talking about KO's case at about the 4:00 mark.

Since that initial appeal, it's been crickets from LE, which is not all that surprising.

I suspect they already have someone on their radar.

Speaking of which, KO's murder has completely dropped off MSM's radar.

Which doesn't give us much to talk about here, unfortunately.

LE hasn't said much but the reference of ME was to "homicide" and not "suicide".

Given the description we have received from the ME, I'm not sure how self inflicted fits with the narrative here.

But info is so limited that its hard to say much about MOD.

So we wait....
