Mother of three presumed dead, body believed to be in Rome dumpster
Police were at the home Monday morning, and still have the crime tape up around the home. Sometime before 11 a.m., authorities say that Jason D'Avolio brought their three children, ages 2, 4, and 5 years old, to an auto shop where his brother worked in Chadwicks. It is after that police say, his brother contacted police with the impression that a homicide occurred on Belmont Street, where they lived.

Rome Police believe her husband killed her. They’ve taken Kerrilee D’Avolio’s husband, Jason, into custody and say he’s the only suspect.

Detectives believe D’Avolio’s body was placed in a garbage dumpster in Rome.

The Rome Police Department said they believe they have located the body of a missing Rome mother at the Oneida County landfill

Jason D’Avolio told his brother that Kerrilee had committed suicide and he told detectives that her body was put in a Dumpster. Police asked the public to look for “any weapons, bedding, clothing or obviously, a body" inside Dumpsters.

Police searched the Western Oneida County waste disposal transfer station in Rome and ultimately to the Oneida County Landfill where the body was located. A rifle that is believed to have been used in this crime was located this morning and secured by members of the Oneida County Sheriffs Office Dive Team.

Kerrilee and Jason D’Avolio are going through a divorce. Their 2-, 4- and 5-year-old daughters were with Jason D’Avolio shortly before 11 a.m. Monday when he told his brother his wife had killed herself.

The girls are safe and being cared for by a relative.

WOW, what a heartbreaking story. More children left parentless by selfish adult :-(

Rest in Peace, Kerrilee. You did not deserve to be murdered and thrown away with the garbage by the man who should have protected and respected you. If he couldn't love and respect you, he should have just left you alone. May your children see your beautiful photos and hear stories about all the things you accomplished and all the loving things you did for them.

"Police and prosecutors say Jason D'Avolio lead them to the dumpster where he put his wife's body and the canal where he dumped the gun used to kill her....but that D'Avolio claims he's not the one who pulled the trigger.

"His wife killed herself and that he then disposed of her body and disposed of the weapon she used to kill herself and then cleaned up the residence," says Oneida County District Attorney, Scott McNamara, recallinging Jason D'Avolio's account of what happened in the couple's Belmont Street home, in Rome, over the weekend.

Logic and prior experience have McNamara questioning Jason D'Avolio's version of events.

"We've seen a lot of suicides. I don't ever remember a family disposing of a body or the weapon used then cleaning it all up on top of that. That's not usually what happens. Usually, they call the police," said McNamara."
