This man has remained unidentified for 34 years, in spite of many clues that could identify him - most notably a photo of a child found in his wallet, perhaps a relative?

A newspaper article from NamUs (see attached files) indicates that a gun found near the remains was found to be stolen from a car in Arvonia, Virginia, in 1978, suggesting the man may have ties to Virginia.

I'm attaching the picture of a child that he carried in his wallet, as well as three artist reconstructions of the UID. The reconstructions look quite different: the newspaper article explains that one forensic artist depicted the man as White and another focused on his African-American heritage. On NamUs there are also pictures of his bag and some of his clothing.

Touched up the photo a bit.

This one feels so solvable. It might be that all we need is for the right person to see that photograph.

Yes, I wonder if they have tried circulating that photo in New York and Virginia to see if anybody recognises the child. Interestingly, the NamUs profile has existed since 2011 and the photo of the kid was only added in April 2021, which makes me think it might have been an overlooked part of the case file until recently.

So many clues in this case. @othram this may be one of interest?

Estimated year of death is listed as 1983-1986. This, Trailways Bus schedule December 5, 1985-January 8, 1986, makes me think it was around that time. JMO.

Also with the photo in the wallet, mabye someone can put it on those photo identification groups on facebook, to see if anyone can identify him. Quite a few groups with mass followings
