ESPN is reporting that Lawrence Taylor will be arraigned today at 5pm eastern time on charges of 3rd degree statutory rape. If convicted, he could face 4 years in prison and have to register as a RSO.

Not that it makes a huge difference but ESPN is reporting that the victim is 16, not 15.

According to the police (being reported on ESPN) the 16 year old was taken from the Holiday Inn in NY by her "pimp" (the polices' words) after allegedly having sexual intercourse with Lawrence Taylor. While in the car, she was able to text message her uncle who arranged to meet her and called NY police who met with her as well.

Lawrence Taylor was arrested in the Holiday Inn hotel room that the victim was able to point out and describe early this morning.

ESPN just showed a brief of the police chief speaking...all he really went over was the charges he is facing: Being a customer to a prostitute under the age of 17 and 3rd degree rape.

If he's convicted, he would have to register as a sex offender and could face 5 years in jail (1 year for the being a customer to a prostitute charge, and 4 years for the 3rd degree rape charge) if given the maximum sentence.

The arraignment is happening right now on ESPN where he is requesting bail.

Lawrence Taylor allegedly paid the victim $300 for sexual intercourse.

Hearing will be within the next 5 days.

Prosecution is requesting a $100,000 bail due to prior charges and a past issue with jumping bail. He lives in Pembroke Pines with his wife and 3 children..not in the state of NY.

Lawrence Taylors attorney says LT hasn't touched drugs in over 12 years (in reference to his previous charges) and is denying all rape charges. Says he's a law abiding citizen who wants nothing more than to deal with this issue and fight these charges. His attorney is requesting that he be released on his own accordance.

Bail was set at $75,000

Lawrence Taylor's attorney speaking now.. says LT hasn't touched drugs in over 12 years and has been clean ever since. Says "all he wants to do is go back to Florida and be with his wife".

Attorney says there was no threats, violence, etc. made. Says the district attorney is charging him with consensual sex and it is "only rape because of her age". Says Lawrence Taylor was in NY to "work and play golf" and says him and LT have "no idea who she is" and her "name is no where on any paperwork they've gotten".

Says LT "did not have sex with anyone. Period. Amen." His attorney continues to say "he's absolutely devastated".

His attorney says all they have is initials "CF" and to "stay away from CF" and is "falsely accusing him of a felony" but him and his client have no idea who "CF" is. They don't have a name, only initials.

LT's "long time business partner and friend" Mark __ (didn't catch the last name) is speaking now. Says he's known Lawrence for 20 years and he's never seen LT this distraught. Says Lawrence plans to go back home to Pembroke Pines where he'll stay until his court date on June 10th and "he's worked very hard over the last 12 years to change perceptions about him and the guy I deal with on a day to day basis is someone many people are fond of and is good to a lot of people." Says he had a corporate appearance this evening in NYC and that's why he was in NY last night.

I don't agree with rape of any kind, but IMO he is worse than LT b/c I am sure this is not the first incident where she was made to prostitute herself to much older men.

According to ESPN, the "pimp"- Rasheed Davis, was arrested as well.

"Police said the girl was reported missing by her family in March and had been staying with a 36-year-old parolee, Rasheed Davis, in the Bronx. The two met a few weeks ago at a Bronx bus stop, NYPD spokesman Paul Browne said.

"He chats her up. She explains she doesn't have a place to stay. He provides one," Browne said.

Davis, who was arrested on charges of unlawful imprisonment, assault and endangering the welfare of a child, then forced her to perform sexual favors for others, authorities said.

Early Thursday morning, Davis punched and kicked her, drove her to the hotel against her will and told her she had to have sex with Taylor, police said. When she refused, Davis handed her over to Taylor, who sexually assaulted her, they said. Taylor paid her $300, which she gave to Davis, police said."

Nutrisystem cuts ties with LT

Nutrisystem, the weight loss company, said Friday that it has ended its relationship with Lawrence Taylor, the former New York Giants linebacker charged with rape.

Taylor had been one of Nutrisystem's spokesmen.

In a statement, Nutrisystem said, "We are shocked and saddened by these very serious allegations against Lawrence Taylor. Based on the severity of these allegations, Nutrisystem has made the decision to sever our relationship with Mr. Taylor effective immediately."

On the reports I heard this morning, there was mention of them finding a used condom in his hotel room.
I know it sounds gross but IMO they'll be able to get dna off of it of both him and the girl. That should be able to prove pretty clearly if there had been contact between them.

Being a runaway it's no surprise that some was able to get ahold of her and this type of crime happens all the time, we're just hearing about this one because of who she was pimped out to.

That said. I think I will wait to decide if I believe it or not til more of the facts are in. Something seems hinky about this to me.

This girl is a runaway and gets picked up by a pimp, who according to some reports on network news programs beat her to gain her compliance, but she is allowed to keep her cel phone and allowed to shoot off a text message to an uncle immediately after the rape? But she couldn't get off a text message to the same uncle BEFORE the alleged rape? WHat pimp/huma trafficking do you know that lets their property have an access to or keep their cel phone while trying to subjogate and subdue them? IDK There is just too little information for me to rush to judgment yet.

I hate to say it, but human trafficking is a really hot topic right now and right on the heels of the other big sports QB rape scandal. Plus this victim is underage and therefore her name and identity are not available to JT and his attorneys to even begin to see if there is some other motive for this story than an actual rape.

I know this won't be popular, but I do not want to find myself reading a story, getting my fur up, going off half cocked and screaming "hang em high" without really knowing the facts. Before I pick up my torch and pitchfork, I think I will just hang back til more info comes out.

Alleged Victim- "I told LT I was 19"

The 16-year-old girl who allegedly had sex with Lawrence Taylor for $300 told cops that her pimp instructed her to tell the NFL great she was 19 years old, this according to federal documents obtained by TMZ.


According to the federal criminal complaint, an FBI agent assigned to the case claims Davis had "caused" the 16-year-old to "engage in multiple commercial sex acts with various individuals" ... and even "set the prices."

The FBI agent also claims that Davis had taken several "almost nude" photographs of the girl on his cell phone in order to obtain customers.

In the docs, the FBI agent claims Davis had sent the girl text messages instructing her to have sex with a client (Lawrence Taylor) on May 5th -- but the girl refused.


So, according to the agent, Davis physically assaulted her "in an effort to coerce [the victim] into participating in a commercial sex act."

According to the agent, Davis then instructed the victim to tell Lawrence Taylor that she was 19 and charge him $300 for sex.

When police caught up with Rasheed Davis on May 6, they claim they found $300 in his car.

SO if sex occurred (condom reportedly found) then JT may be guilty of badjudgment, hiring a prostitue, believing her when she claimed, at her pimp's behest, that she was 19.

Dumb dumb dumb. Why are men so driven to listen to their nether regions? Will they ever learn?

I have a feeling that the pimp may have intended to set him up unknowingly with this underage girl in order to later hit JT up for money (Blackmail).

I feel badly for the girl involved, but IDK, I just don't see JT knowingly "hiring" a pro for some intimate entertainment with this sort of risk attached (statutory rape).

That said, I repeat what I posted earlier. If he did this thing he should get all he deserves, sports figure or not.

It's still a crime to hire a prostitute in NY regardless of her age first and foremost.
Or to have "consensual sex" with an underage girl because they cannot by law agree.

Even if he did hire a prostitute and she accepted money as payment and gave it to her pimp, it is still illegal to beat her and force her into sex otherwise known as rape.
He broke the law even if she is of age by hiring a prostitute and beating her regardless of underage or not.
I wouldn't make any excuses for a predator.
The truth hopefully will come out- but how stupid can he be to not have known she isn't over 18. Why or how does he know an ex-con Davis and why use his services when there's escort services with better reputations?
Hopefully, they won't let him buy his way out of trouble like they do other athletes.
Either way I am shocked his wife will stand by him unless she loves the money more than the truth.

Honey, you won't "be" with anybody until the smoke clears on this one. Guilty or not...if my husband were flying back home with this stuff hitting the fan, there would be no "be-ing" for quite a while.

That said...

My gut reaction after reading the initial coverage on this is that LT didn't know her age and there was no violence (my opinion on this could change at any point). "Extortion" crops up in my head.

Be that as it may, I think it's probable this girl was not in this situation willingly. No one WILLINGLY runs away to become a prostitute. Child prostitution is what a kid falls into when there is no net to catch her on the way down. It's hell, and there's no perceivable way out of it.

She was probably scared to death of her pimp and would've done anything he told her to as if there were a gun to the back of her head.

BUT...

If she had a cell phone at her disposal, why didn't she text her uncle sooner? Why only after the encounter with LT? Why didn't she text her uncle the first time anything bad happened to her at all?

My thought is that the situation must've been especially bad if she finally got the courage to text her uncle. The only other motivator that might've come about so suddenly and with THIS particular situation would be LT's fame and wealth. So...traumatic violence? Or extortion?

Alleged pimp in Lawrence Taylor case charged

(CNN) -- The man accused of bringing an under-age prostitute to ex-NFL player Lawrence Taylor told her to lie about her age, prosecutors alleged in a federal complaint against the man on Friday.

The complaint says the alleged pimp, Rasheed Davis, told a 16-year-old prostitute to tell a "Client-1" that she was 19. The federal complaint against Davis does not refer to the former New York Giants linebacker by name, but the description of "Client-1" matches that of Taylor in the complaint against him.

The rape charges filed against Taylor on Thursday are based on the allegation that he had sexual intercourse with a minor -- someone younger than 17.

The complaint against Davis also alleges that he assaulted the prostitute to coerce her into having sex with the client who matches Taylor's description.
