GUILTY NY - Leiby Kletzky, 8, Brooklyn, 11 July 2011 - #2

 • #421
I have thought of little Leiby several times in recent weeks, over something so minor but glaring to me.

I have walked with my daughter (a few weeks shy of turning 8) and have been behind her coming back from where we went - at least 4 times in the last week she's turned the opposite way than where we just came from. (Coming and going to restrooms in buildings or restaurants.) My heart just breaks every time she makes a wrong turn and I think "ah! It was just the wrong direction, poor little guy!"

Veteran Lawyer Joins Defense Team in Leiby Kletzky Case

Outside the courtroom, Mr. Greenberg said definitively for the first time that the defense planned to prove that Mr. Aron was not guilty by reason of insanity, and indicated after the hearing that the police had deliberately led Mr. Aron to confess his crime.

Mr. Aron is accused of kidnapping, killing and dismembering Leiby in Borough Park.

“They told him what to say, and consequently it’s not his statement,” Mr. Greenberg said. “My opinion is you can get this guy to admit he shot Kennedy if you spend a little bit of time with him.”

“This is a very simple case,” Mr. Greenberg added. “He’s either evil or he’s crazy. He’s obviously crazy.”

BBM: How about evil AND crazy? They are not mutually exclusive concepts. :furious:

A Monster Among the 'Frum'

The faithful of Borough Park have a saying: “We are all of one face.” The life of Levi Aron, the outcast awaiting trial for the murder of 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky, suggests otherwise.

Long but interesting article about Leiby's case.

Warning, photo of the red suitcase and the dumpster included in the article.

Still keeping Leiby's family and the community in my prayers.

The butcher of Brighton Beach, who admitted to killing four people during a Brooklyn-to-Manhattan murder spree last February, told The Post in an exclusive jailhouse interview that he had regularly crossed paths behind bars with Levi Aron, the Brooklyn man accused of killing and dismembering 8-year-old Leiby Kletzky.

And Gelman began to plot Aron’s death.

Good old fashioned Jailhouse justice

Under the pending deal, Aron would get 25 years to life in prison for murder, plus 15 years for kidnapping, a source said. He is currently facing life without parole if convicted of the top charge of first-degree murder.

Hikind said he plans to read a statement from the family at next week's court appearance, but warned that nothing is final until the disposition is approved in court.

“At any moment, Levi Aron can change his mind,” Hikind said.

I hope he does plead guilty and I hope it is soon. I couldn't imagine Leiby's family having to relive this at trial.

On another note, interesting to compare the time this case is taking with that of Michael Plumadore, who pled and was sentenced just shy of 6 months of a similiar crime occuring.

I guess with the long - half decade waits- for some crimes to get to trial in IL, I am noticing how quickly or how long things drag out in other cases/states.

Rest in Peace, little Leiby.

Your story broke a piece of my heart. :(

I can only wish your family, and your community, does not have to endure any more agony, by the monster who killed you.

Man pleads guilty to murdering boy in Brooklyn neighborhood

A Brooklyn man pleaded guilty on Thursday to murdering an 8-year-old Orthodox Jewish boy last year, dismembering his body and stashing the parts in his freezer and a suitcase tossed into a dumpster.

Levi Aron, 36, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and second-degree kidnapping in the death of Leiby Kletzky, who had lost his way in the Hasidic neighborhood of Brooklyn, New York where they both lived.

[snip]

Aron was charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping, and had faced life in prison, but he reached a plea deal with prosecutors under which he will get 40 years in prison with five years of supervised release when he is sentenced on August 29.

Precious boy, have some peace.

And I pray to G*d for healing for your parents. You will always be a big boy, even if that evil thing stopped you from walking home all by yourself.

I hope the sick fungus that robbed you and your family of your life will experience agony and regret for the rest of his miserable life.

You deserved better, sweet Leiby.
