Having returned to this case after a long time I just noticed that not only did the chief suspect Rose use the mafia in house lawyer Boreanaz, he also used Paul Cambria, another lawyer with an extensive list of mafia and other dodgy clients and one of the most expensive criminal lawyers in the USA. It begs the question of where he got the money. If the police really want to get Rose all they need do is follow the money.
