NY NY - Leonard Edward Johnson Jr. 24, Manhattan, 1 Mar 1975

Sounds like someone saw him walking away from his apartment in like leaving instead of .. seen walking into his apartment building. He was seen walking away, like up the block or something like that. It’s what I gather from that.

I thought it would be worth mentioning #UP998 (NamUs).

Similar characteristics:
The age of Johnson would be either 24 or 25 - the age range of this UID is 25-40.
The height is similar, this UID was estimated at 5' 11", while Johnson was recorded at 5' 8".
The weight is exact, with the UID estimated at 130-150 pounds, and Johnson's reported weight is 150 pounds.
The time-frame is a bit later, but possibly consistent - the UID was found Sept. 19th, while Johnson went missing in March.

What really stuck out to me is that the UID was wearing Navy-issue clothing, and also that according to a local newspaper interview with LE (not listed in NamUs), that the UID's extensive dental work is representative of someone in the military, which I attribute to Johnson had spent time in the Coast Guard for this proposed connection. MOO.

Associated thread: NC - Near Iredell & Davis Co line, BlkMale 25-40, UP998, 'Seafarer' pants, belt w/buckle, Sept'75

I was just coming on here to make this same suggestion. Have you submitted that possible match to any LE @ccmetro ?

Hi - yes I have submitted Leonard as a possible match to the regional person for this UID case.

I came across this on Namus and thought it was interesting since the person was found pretty much one year exactly to when Leonard went missing and he was found at the US Navy Coast Guard Station in NJ. Leonard was Part of the US Navy Coast Guard. So anyway just thought I would post.

I'm not sure if it's been submitted, but they haven't been excluded from each other on NamUs. Has anyone had any luck with finding a photo of Leonard?

I posted his flyer to my Locks of Reunification group. Hoping to spread awareness about Leonard's case.
