Well personally I don't find anything the family says very reliable. That's just my opinion of course.

Even if they did somehow "lose" the tapes would they really admit that to the family?

Everything nowadays is on computers. It's not like they have to go searching through a storage room for a tape.

More than likely, SCPD simply didn't pull the recorded file or discuss it with the family until they had a pow-wow with the brass.

but...wouldn't they be apprised of the situation via the dispatcher? wouldn't the dispatcher say...victim Shannan claims perp JoeBlow...chasing...etc...

I just listened to the Here Women Talk interview, and her sister sounds credible. She mentions the missing jacket, and the earring that their other sister found. It is possible the earring wasn't there when the police searched, and fell there later. (It's also possible they didn't look too hard.)

I don't understand why anyone would think SG's family made all this up.

Wonder when exactly the neighbor saw JB and the other man loading a U-Haul, in the darkened driveway? Supposedly it took about 15 minutes, around the midnight hour, and then she never saw him again.

Could the loading of the U-Haul have come just after the sister's made their visit to interview the neighbors?

IIRC, the sisters found SG's earring in JB's driveway. When exactly was that? It's odd that in the months prior to their first visit to Oak Island that no one else saw the earring. Almost feels like someone put it there for the girls to find. Anyone who knew they were "knocking on everyone's doors" per Mrs. CPH, could have driven past JB's house and tossed it into an obvious place on his driveway.

I also think that Sherre sounded credible.

Neither do I, Redbird. I think there is room for error because we are human, but I believe there is truth in Shannan's family's account.

Regarding a segment missing from the radio interview with the Gilberts. It would be removed for one reason only. The information was damaging and could not be verified. Verification would come if they( reporter, news station) actually had the tape/copy and heard it or LE confirmed it.

I think I disagree crimesnooper (but am on my first cuppa, so forgive me). What an interviewee says is what they say, so it is a fact that they said it. The media does not have to verify that what the person said is fact ... the fact may not be true, but the fact that goes to public record is that the person said it. (i.e. the media could interview a POI who says "i had nothing to do with ....". LE may know otherwise, but aren't about to have the statement removed from the media.)

I do agree that it may have been removed because it was damaging to the investigation, but not necessarily because the information was untrue.

Do we know roughly how long the Manorville bones were in the Gilgo area? Do you think it's possible that the Manorville killer had the bones for years and just dumped them after they found the bodies in the burlap?

You are so right Raennan about that. We have such an awesome group of posters here working on the case and everyone works so well together.

I really felt for Sherre when she told about how after they found the first of the 4 bodies they came to see her family and told them they had a really good feeling it could be Shannan. Then LE came back the next night saying it wasn't her. And then 3 more bodies were found, {2 that next day I think and then the last one} and they were told she was not among them. Her DNA didn't match and none had a metal plate in their jaw.

Can you imagine the anguish this family had just going thru all that? Seven long months after she had gone missing.

Sleep well, see you tomorrow. xox

I agree about this awesome group. I was so happy to find this web site. People here are thoughtful, intelligent and respectful.

Thinking about how exhausted Shannan must have been really helps put me into her shoes. 5 in the morning, working all night, maybe intoxicated and probably terrified. I have so much sympathy for her and her family.

I was also thinking about how LE didn't really run with this until the bodies were found. It really is sad. For instance, Melissa's family telling the cops they were receiving those phone calls and were pretty much ignored. These girls' families must be so terribly upset.

My modem is semi-fried, so am just now caught up on the thread. Sorry that I can't recall who made the posts I refer to, but want to respond to a couple of points.

The the poster who thought that possibly Shannan was picked up by a predator after she was last seen, she was heading further into the gated community, so presumably the predator would still have to have been authorized to access within the complex.

WRT Shannan at GC's house, I am positive (okay, almost positive ;) ... will try to find it) that GC said she was on her cell when she arrived at his door.

Blanket "Thank You" to all who are working so hard on these cases. :tyou:

Sorry about all the posts, guys! Just wanted to say that I also recall GC saying Shannan was on the phone when she knocked on his door. It must have been one of the first articles I read.

We can only guess what is going on with LE behind the scenes. My guess is that Mr. Hyde is very much under the microscope but without a body it is only he said/she said. The fact that they have the search for SG high priority now makes me think that she is important to making a case against any POI they may have in their sites.

do we have any kind of diagram that shows Shannan's known path based on sightings...beginning at jb's and ending in the footprints?

who saw these footprints again? were there other footprints?

we need to find her to solve this puzzle.

One of the newspapers tracked her path with a map. Will try to find it. The footprints were seen by the lady and her son that live on Anchor Way. SG came to their house after GC encounter and they also called 911, but SG ran away.

Thanks Shadowraiths for finding this. I tried and couldn't. When it came out I was surprised that the trail lead down to Lamboard Ct. Somehow that hadn't sunk in for me until I saw the map.

You know, initially, I was confused about which direction she ran. I was thinking she hid under GC's boat, and then ran through the weeds onto Oak Beach Rd. I thought that for a number of reasons, but primarily because that direction would have made the most sense. Then I rewatched a video of GC, and he clearly pointed in the direction of Anchor Way. Odd that she would run in that direction, but if she was disorientated, she could have run anywhere, I suppose. What strikes me as particularly interesting about GC and the Canning woman's statements is that they both put SG running in the direction of PH's residence. Add to that the few reports (if they are to be believed) we have of PH having seen SG running on Oak Beach and...well...with the phone call...pretty damning coincidences, imo.
