yes. I think anyone from LI on this forum would agree.

I live here, and I agree that there are a number of rural or not too populated places to dump a body on Long Island. Maybe potential dumping grounds are not as plentiful as some other places in our nation like Nevada, Utah, or lots of others. But, there are lots of locations one could dump a body that would have been closer to travel to from Manorville than that beach. I think the killer plain and simply felt comfortable dumping some of the remains at that beach.

If you were to map any generally direct route from Manorville to the beach via the satellite map you would see many perfectly suitable (awful choice of words...sorry:() and unpopulated, secluded dumping grounds. Why go all the way to the beach and have the remains in the vehicle for that long when it wasn't necessary? Sure he might have wanted to place distance between the two sets. But, why that particular area? I am not convinced that the Manorville murders were committed by the same evil sk. But, I am inclined to think it is quite possible.

As for changing MO's? Killers sometimes do that for a variety of reasons. The killer can become more cocky and not bother so much to cover his tracks, maybe he developed arthritis so it is painful to cut up bodies. Maybe his tastes changed. Some sk's have different methods of killing and disposing of bodies that they not only change from but go back and forth to. Some shoot one person, strangle the next and shoot the third victim. I do agree that that our gb4 killer is organized at least in part. They are all in burlap and all in the same area, for example.

They clean the coastline. they are not walking through the brush

read their site closely, they do list the north side of the island and the wetlands as well.

It IS possible that there was never any burlap.

The first (and only) thing my father (who is a former homicide prosecutor for the Suffolk County DA's office) said about this investigation is that the detectives ALWAYS embed a lie in the information they release to the public. In order to eliminate the oddballs who want to take credit for murders they didn't commit. He said it might not be burlap at all, it could be plastic, or camouflage garb, or anything etc.

In the beginning there was very very little information released. Something like, "4 naked female bodies in burlap found of north side of ocean parkway".
Out of the few things that were released in the beginning of the investigation, which one is the trap?

Don't put too much stock in one of the details originally released...

This is what they said in 2003 about Jessica Taylor & Jane Doe No. 6. ( link )

Throwing cold water on the serial killer theory, Lieutenant Fitzpatrick said the two female victims were similar only in that their heads and hands were removed, not enough to link them.
Here is what they are saying today ( link, emphasis added, mine )

But county officials said Monday that the killings involving two of the more recently discovered victims — while unconnected to the first four bodies — “appear to be related to each other.”
While I certainly understand the reasoning behind differentiating these two women from the GB4, their apparent unwillingness to unequivocally acknowledge that these two women were murdered by the same person(s) is, imho, mind boggling.

Long Island Killers by Jessica Capelli, Long Island Exchange, May 13, 2011 ( link, emphasis added, mine )

Reports have stated that the two women found in Manorville, one of whom was identified as twenty-year-old Jessica Taylor, led to the reopening of two other cases. The first was from 1997 and the other was a case from ten years later. Since 2007, no progress has been made or updates given to either case.
Does anyone have any idea what two "additional cases" she is referring to?

I wonder if there is any link between the SK and the golf course across the street from the first missing victim in the baby. Makes you wonder if any of the suspects golf there. Then again, the locations might not be that visible through the vegetation.

Really? There are hundreds of woodsy areas that a body won't be discovered because no one walks through the area?

The one thing that sticks out is that the Manorville torso's were not really hidden but still not out in the open. With this and the removal of identifying features he still had time before anyone knew of the bodies and people's memories started to fade.

The island on the other hand had 10 years go by before anyone noticed. No need to even remove identifying features.

I'm not really persuaded either way towards whether the manorville and gb4 are related.

In other words, it feels more of a strange coincidence that identifying remains were found on the island while the torso's weren't treated with the same care. That also makes me wonder about the remains of victim 9 and 10. I'm speculating based on some articles, but it sounds like the identifying features of victims 9 and 10 aren't on the island. They were also supposedly very old. I wonder if there dumping ground is out at sea and the SK didn't like that as much because he couldn't visit as easily.

I wonder if these two are responsible for any of the remains:

The deadly deeds of Trucchio and Mackey may have gone undiscovered had it not been for the human head found floating in a canal in western Broward County along Alligator Alley at mile marker 35.7 at approximately 6:11 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2007. Evidence at the scene revealed that the head was originally inside a plastic grocery bag when it was thrown into the canal. The bag with “Waldbaum’s Red Tag Reduction” displayed in red letters provided BSO homicide detectives with one of their first clues to help identify the victim. Waldbaum’s stores are only located in Long Island, New York.

several yrs ago I used to subscribe to a database where you can look up names, voter records, professional licenses, property records, etc and I had forgotten about it until last night....

I signed up for $9.95 and was able to look at various property records there in Gilgo. The $9.95 allows 400 lookups. Take a look in this link at the Demo of records available. They don't allow NEW YORK dl or license plate lookup as they do in some states but they still have lots of good searches avail.

I don't think the people of OB are weird, part of a cult, nor are they protecting people. I think they are a group of homeoweners who pay hefty taxes to live near the water and want their privacy back. Who wouldn't?. Their lives have been invaded by police, press, on-lookers and SG's family becuase a OB person hired a prostitute. And while no one deserves to be murdered, I think it's unrealistic to expect an outpouring of sympathy for the victims becuase of the high risk nature. I don't think it's a case of you deserve it but more [/I]of a what do you expect attitude. Not unlike how many people feel about drug dealers who are killed. And what is it exactly they owe anyone at this point or what are they supposed to do? These homeowners, with the exception if one turns out to be the SK, did not cause this to happen.IMO

hmmmm...someone thought, I really like that but I think it would be better if you took off a couple of skulls???? or for an extra couple of bucks I can add a couple of skulls over here??? wth?

:partyguy2:

Man, this is getting ridiculous, all these coinkidinks! What a creepy place and creepy people. It IS going to make a creepy movie for sure. We should start writing the screenplay now, and in the opening shot and the closing shot would be that mural!

Oh, while I'm at it - are we supposed to believe that in between the time MBB was killed and MB or MW (sorry, can't remember now who was taken first), that this SK just laid low? He didn't need to feed his addiction? Bullhockey. I don't buy it. And I don't buy that JT is unrelated to the GB4. In which case, if they are related, what was the SK doing between JT and MBB? Nothing?
We need to look for more dumpsites. And missing "girls" whose loved ones have been taunted. JMO of course. And I think the "rehab" angle should be delved into as well as the traffiking. That said, why hasn't JB been arrested as a john? Is that something he would just get a "ticket" for?

One more thing: I don't hold out much hope that LE will be able to track this guy electronically. If he's smart enough to use disposable cells, he's not going to use a computer that can be traced to him.

Great sleuthing all!

Hi Twocuriouscats, Do you remember reading yesterday about the placement of the bodies was disposed of in the order they went missing? Does it seem of note to you? I can't remember how it went and wonder if you {or anyone} can. Ta

Oh gosh, you are right! My bad! Just what Gilgo Beach needed - a whole bunch of tunnels! Icing on the freaking cake!!! Geesh!!! Thanks dc!!!

Just for the record, I posted that link to the gilgo mural and the artist who painted it, just as a curiosity. I'm a bit of a history/culture nut...I find odd stories about people and places interesting. In no way, shape or form was I suggesting ANYTHING about that mural (or the artist) other than it was an odd coincidence in light of the murders.

And to whomever posted the story about the dumping of the gravestones in the ocean...awesome story! Thanks for posting that! :)

Yes, I just read that. Our friend KAYTOM has been pointing those out! I think it's a good observation. Another wierd thing about this case...I'll find it and repost...

Another weird thing with the map is that the distances sort of fit on the time line also. With the last three it was around 500 ft and only months between when they went missing. Between the unidentified Manorville victim - 2000 and JT 2003 it is about several thousand feet - 3 years between when they went missing. Between JT and Barnes is several thousand feet - 4 years between.

Here is one of the posts...

One thing thats kind of weird with the victim location map is that it roughly follows the chronological order the known victims went missing. Waterman is out of order. But the lady from Manorville that went missing in 2000 is closest to Oak Beech. Followed by JT - 2003 and ending with Costello farthest away. The unidentified might not fit either. But still weird and possible a connection to the GB4.

It also starts out with the baby found near the unidentified Manorville victim. Perhaps symbolic in some sick twisted way.

The other post by KAYTOM...

I hear what you're saying here, but I tend to sympathize more with the underdogs.
