Sorry for the rant. If I read one more case regarding child and the lawyer stresses they didn't harm a "real" child I'll have a stroke. Every single one of those photos or videos is a crime scene. Every one of those children are victamized time and time and time again.

Plus call in experts because I don't believe it. You have these deviants looking at horrible, ugly, harmful, vile images and they say they wouldn't hurt a known child that BS. Given the chance they will.

If I sat in a room viewing pictures of delicious pastries all day long over and over and I go pass a da*n bakery later that day you best believe I'm gonna go buy a doughnut or a cheese cake. Not a great analogy, but it fits.

Not sure if she adopted or not, but it definitely doesn't appear this little girl has a father to take care of her now.
Hopefully there is other family to take her in.

From what I understand, he was only released because he was awaiting trial. He wasn't convicted of anything yet. He was awaiting charges for possessing child . He wasn't convicted, so he wasn't a registered sex offender (yet).

What bothers me was that he confessed to the child crimes and he provided the means to get into the encrypted files. So, he was out on bail I am sure because he had cooperated. His specialty is enough to give the courts pause in the future however. I have heard of cases when offenders have cut their bracelets off and the delay is 20 minutes before the alarms go off-there was a case in MA iirc where the offender killed another woman within an hour of dumping his bracelet.

This was clearly his bucket list, imvho, and I agree with others that he may have been watching these two or had in the past. idk.

Well he is now. Thanks to the system making everyone a guinea pig with an ' alleged sex offender' on the loose. Now thanks to a 10 yr old, he's a real sex offender.
I have been thinking for a long time that sex crimes need an entirely different playbook than other crimes. This plea bargaining and probation for first time offenders should NOT be the same for someone who stole 20 dollars from their co workers purse and someone who committed a sex crime. Sex offenders are not GEARED the same way as bank robbers, drunk drivers, hot check writers and bar room brawlers. It just does not make sense.

I am pissed that the media reported the rape of this innocent baby girl. Now that the mother's name is out there the little girl has been violated twice. She will have to see this on the internet for the rest of her life. They could have just listed it as an assault and not a rape. I cannot even imagine the long-term consequences of that information being plastered all over the news. I have a 10yo and I cannot even imagine what this trauma would do to her. I would not want the severity of the attack put in the news.

Her daughter was adopted from china according to articles linked above. Having known some horror stories from my neighbour about what her daughter sent through before she was adopted makes me so much sadder for this little girl.

"We're still trying to piece the timeline together," Trooper Jack Keller said.

The girl was being treated at a hospital Friday. Her mother died from multiple stab wounds.............

Renz, 29, had been charged in January with possession of child and allowed to remain free under terms that included staying off the Internet and away from places including schools, parks and arcades. He lost his job at a supermarket, moved in with his mother and hadn't been able to find other work after his arrest, according to court documents.

Federal authorities said he cut his electronic monitoring device off his ankle shortly before Thursday's attacks. The Post-Standard, of Syracuse, reports that David Renz had a swollen face and tissues stuffed up both nostrils when he appeared in federal court Friday to face a probation violation charge.

His attorneys say Renz was assaulted by other inmates at the Onondaga County Justice Center, where he was taken following his arrest Thursday night.

Sheriff Kevin Walsh told the newspaper he was looking into why Renz was put into a holding area with other prisoners.

What is it going to take for the courts to realize these sex offenders and those who possess child should have a 1 strike and you're out rule. As far as I'm concerned they should never see the light of day if they are interested in something so sick.

If you violate a child, or there is legitimate evidence that you "like" viewing child , etc. etc. etc...

It is clear that Lori Bresnahan was a truly wonderful, upbeat soul who was beloved by so many people. She was a champion of children, a teacher, an ear for so many, and a support for others.

Honestly I have never seen so many wonderful shared memories from so many of different ages and those who knew Lori from different walks of life. She absolutely had the best smile.

Now, my second though is this is serious. I guess in the court's eyes, the electronic anklet is a security measure. Hopefully this case will make them think twice. I wonder if all the other guys out there wearing those are now wondering how in the heck did he do this? Also, I wonder if there will be a huge lawsuit from her family to either the court or manufacturer of the ankle monitor.

And finally, it's a nice gesture I guess the media is trying to redact the fact the 10 year old rape victim was her child, but it's a little too late.

He should be an accessory TO THE CRIME not only for possessing it but for the child's abduction and assault ( if there was one). If PERP A does not buy the material then PERP B who took the pictures might not have taken them, see? If you talk your neighbor into robbing a bank to give you some of the money but you stay home, you're STILL a part of the crime ! Why not with this ? So for everyone possessing the they should also be charged with the crime against that child. So you've got 100s of pics on your pc ( which it seems most have 100s or 1000s of pics on their pc ) then you get charged with 100's or 1000s or counts of accessory to the assault of the child. This is a great idea. You're right - you rob a bank and go to jail for bank robbery. You are peripherally involved and you still go to jail for bank robbery. I love the thought of charging these people as accessories to the crimes being committed instead of just viewing it. This is disgusting.

I wouldn't be surprised to hear more about this Renz guy when reporters start digging deeper or kids come forward. It's scary to think his neighbors had little girls and they had no idea he was awaiting trial. I understand the "innocent until proven guilty" and I appreciate I live somewhere this is practiced; however, when involving children that is SO BRUTAL as his was, he shouldn't be allowed to roam around before his trial. Especially with kids so close.

Excuse me..... I thought he was on house arrest? Doesn't that mean staying in his house? Besides the usual issues associated with house arrest (poor supervision of monitors, endangering others) Jail arrest means being confined to a jail, house arrest however seems to mean something totally different.

I knew they were released to go to the attorney's office, to obtain medical care. But released to go to work?

Are they also released to go to the grocery? How about to go out for a drink or to visit friends? What does house arrest actually mean?

It's way too often I've read or posted cases where some creep isn't a tech saavy person like this crumb, and they just remove it and flee. Just "poof" I'm gonna take off. Many times they stay missing too until Lord forbid they attack another child.

Man, I wish I could think of the guy's name who they allowed to live under a tree. We have a thread on him. His PO actually left him under a tree on release and the guy took off. Stayed missing. Caught. Did it again and ultimately wound up murdering a child.

Bracelet, Registry whatever. They are great tools, but obviously not preventing children being harmed or murdered.

Crimes against children need to be treated more seriously. Since children are so vulnerable and dependent, their right to be safe must come before all else.

Obviously, house arrest isn't effective for this type of criminal. It seems too easy for an offender to cut off or deactivate the monitor and then flee. If a home monitoring system is going to be effective at all, the monitor and ankle bracelet should be made of 50# cast iron ...

... similar to this ^. At least, if an offender did leave the house and try to flee, he'd be very recognizable and slow-moving, and it would be difficult for him to try anything while lugging around that weight. :cow:
