aside from the news conference ...

Ryan Lawrence has been charged with second-degree murder. Lawrence is being held without bail. Lawrence was booked in the county jail this afternoon, according to jail records. He may face further charges at a later time.

He faces 25 years to life in prison if convicted. He will be arraigned in court Wednesday morning.

but for what?
May be something that has not surfaced yet. Just a feeling....maybe he was a jealous guy. Maybe mom wasn't forthright with info on relationship. Hiding abuse maybe?
I just can't see a guy with no temper murdering his child. Police chief just said in his opinion Ryan is not suicidal.

I have always liked Chief Fowler.
He is a no nonsense guy and IMO has done a lot of good for our city.

One of the first things I always want to know...

When was the last time Maddox was seen by someone other than mom and dad?

  • #367
When asked COD....the chief said he couldn't comment. But based on his face, they must have an idea. Especially with the 2nd degree murder charge. Makes me sick to my stomach.

The chief just said they ultimately do know what happened. But they don't want to say to the public because they are hoping for witnesses to still come forward.

Okay. Come on down, witnesses.

I really like this chief so far.

Someone asked if the mother is still being questioned. He stated that the detectives are in close contact with the family. But he didn't really say if she's being technically questioned at all.

I was curious about that and was hoping to find out more. She definitely seemed legitimately distraught in the press conference the other day. But she did say one 'hinky' thing to me. Hopefully it was just nothing but I do hope they are questioning many of the family. Best to cover all bases.

I can hardly remember the last time I saw an Amber alert that didn't involve a loving parent or other caring person, however misguided they were.

Amber Alerts are supposed to alert the public when a stranger abducts a child, or a clearly murderous other person abducts a child. Anymore, it's just issued when a non custodial parent or some other caring person takes the child and the custodial parents - or guardians - or child care services - want the child back.

I literally can't remember the last time an Amber Alert was issued when a clearly dangerous person abducted a child. This system wasn't invented to help CPS track children of non custodial parents who then go missing. It was designed to find children who are in immediate danger of being murdered.

I just wanted to quote this post from yesterday. I would like to point out that the Amber Alert is what helped LE get Ryan Lawrence into custody which then led to finding baby Maddox's body. So I think this case is a perfect example of proper use of an Amber Alert. Someone saw it and saw a man resembling RL and called 911. Without the AA, who knows how long it could have taken to find him.

Who knows ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Maybe she was leaving him...
This post makes me think of John Skelton here in Michigan. His wife was divorcing him. To get even their 3 sons disappeared on Thanksgiving while visiting him. He acted like he was suicidal. They were never found :( Just sick.

I couldn't agree more!

Thanks for the updates on the presser. It's nap time so I can catch up! :)

I really hope ML (mom) had no part of this, whatsoever! If she didn't, my heart goes out to her. I can't fathom the pain she's in.

I like that police chief, he held himself together really well (I thought he was going to crack at a couple of questions, quite understandably). I have no doubt he will do the best he can in tying-up this case.
RIP Maddox :rose:

Poor baby Maddox :(

This article about RL mother is interesting to say the least
