Male human remains found in duffel bag

Police are investigating after male human remains were found in a duffel bag in Yonkers Monday.

The discovery was made around noon outside a Wells Fargo Bank on Odell Avenue.

Officers located the bag on the west side of the building, adjacent to a garbage dumpster.

Responders tested the air quality for the presence of a possible explosive device and with negative results began to inspect the contents of the bag. They then opened the bag make the gruesome discovery.

The area was cordoned off, and a criminal investigation was initiated.

Yonkers police investigators will work closely with the Westchester County Medical Examiner's Office in an effort to determine the identity of the victim, the cause of death, and the possible location of occurrence.

I no longer live in Yonkers but I know that area fairly well. That part of Odell ave is a busy area. It’s right off the Saw Mill Parkway, and a few minutes from Untermeyer Park. The bank is part of a strip mall. I would imagine the strip mall has cameras. I know the stop light at the intersection has a camera.

IMO... it's usually a female found in the duffle bag/suitcase. So, being male, it sort of stuck out to me.

According to WABC, investigators say 24-year-old Deshawn Cortez-Seaborn of Portsmouth, Virginia had numerous stab wounds.

"YONKERS, New York (WAVY) -- Authorities have announced two arrests almost a month to the day after a Portsmouth man's body was found inside a duffel bag outside a bank near New York City.

Christopher Myrie, 48, and Jonisha Graham, 29, both of Schieffelin Avenue in the Bronx, have been charged with one count each of concealment of a human corpse, a felony under New York state law.

Deshawn Cortez Seaborne's body had multiple stab wounds when it was found Nov. 19 near a dumpster outside the Wells Fargo bank at 500 Odell Avenue in Yonkers, New York.

According to the New York Daily News, a love triangle could be what led up to this homicide....

Police have yet to charge anyone with murder in connection to Seaborne's death, but they believe he was killed somewhere in the Bronx and there was an apparent failure to conceal the body when it was dumped outside the bank in Yonkers. ...

Myrie and Graham are set to appear in court on Dec. 21. "

"...An investigation has discovered the duffel bag contained the intact body of a deceased black male; the victim suffered from multiple severe stab and puncture wounds to his back, torso, neck and head areas that apparently resulted in his death, Yonkers PD Det. Sgt. Dean Politopoulos said.

The whole body of the victim was packed into the duffel bag and discarded where it was found, police said. Investigators are actively following up leads to identify the perpetrator(s) and location of occurrence of this crime. The victim has been identified as Deshawn Cortez-Seaborne, a 24-year-old resident of Portsmouth, Virginia...."

"A 24-year-old man whose body was found stuffed in a duffel bag outside a Yonkers bank last month was slain in a Bronx housing project after a love triangle took a deadly turn, officials said Tuesday.

Investigators believe Deshawn Cortez-Seaborn, of Virginia, was knifed to death inside a fourth-floor apartment in the Edenwald Houses on Schieflin Ave. near E. 229th St. on Nov. 19, police sources said...

Cortez-Seaborn had been stabbed in the back, torso, neck and head.

Later that day, cops busted Christopher Myrie, 48, for concealment of a human corpse and 10 days later charged his girlfriend Jonisha Graham, 29, with the same crime.

Sources with knowledge of the case said the victim was romantically involved with Graham, sparking a feud with Myrie....

Neither Myrie nor Graham have been charged with Cortez-Seaborn’s murder as the investigation continues, officials said."

So he was murdered November 19th, body dumped Nov 19th, AND Myrie was arrested Nov 19th, if I’m reading that correctly. I’m guessing security cameras led LE right to the murderers. Kudos to YPD.

According to a New York Daily News report, the victim was romantically involved with Graham, and Myrie allegedly went into a jealous rage when he caught Graham and Cortez-Seaborne together.

They say surveillance cameras outside the bank and in a nearby shopping plaza led them to Myrie and Graham."
