Tentative name of Richard Shemtob, but this name has not been verified and family has not been notified.

So many questions. Did he live there? Was he visiting? was he homeless staying there? Someone must of known him in a neighborhood somewhere

There's a Richard Shemtob in this case that is something to do with the stock market from 1971. I have no idea about the stock market, so it's pretty incomprehensible to me. But it's New York, so it's not outside the realm of possibility it's the same person.

If he was 60-80 in 2015, he'd be born between 1935-1955. There was a Richard Shemtob at Stuyvesant High School in NYC in the 1957 yearbook...they said his face was recognizable, I wonder if they compared it to this photo? He does appear to have brown eyes.

In my opinion, that DOES look like him. The nostrils are small but the nose is larger. Deep set eyes on both.

There are postmortem pictures at NamUs. I would say he isn't dissimilar in appearance, but with sixty years difference in age, it's challenging to say 'that's the guy' without being someone who looks at faces every day. @CarlK90245 and @victoriarobinson642 ?

They both have attached earlobes, which are somewhat less common than detached. To me, the deceased looks well older than 60, I'd say 70 at least, which would put him born between 1935 and 1945. The Richard in the yearbook would have been born around 1940.

I meant sixty years difference in age between the John Doe and the person in the yearbook, not that the decedent was sixty at time of death.

Ancestry dot com shows that Richard Shemtob lived at 521 Park Ave, NY, and before that at 2670 Frederick Douglass Blvd, Manhattan birthdate July 1940. Think that’s him?

I’m agreeing with that. I’d have gone to the nearest synagogues with a photo.
Not everyone is observant or active in a religious congregation.

I'm second generation LDS, but haven't been active since I came of age and got to make my own choices. The few times I've set foot in a chapel since for weddings and funerals, the only people who've recognised me are those who knew me as a kid. Most of the younger people I've met from my mum's congregation didn't even know she had a daughter, even though I live with her. If LE turned up with my photo, likely nobody would have a clue who I was.

If that is him, his classmates are looking for him and consider him missing per their webpage.
