GUILTY NY - Marc Bookal, 4, Newburgh, 14 Dec 2009

I wonder if those two people Marc lived with had even bought him a Christmas present yet.
Now he is lost.
Lost and maybe gone.

I feel like so many do. If you don't want to be a parent, for whatever reason, give the child up. So many people want to adopt.

Salem, I always so enjoy your posts. But this is one time when I'm not sure it would have made a difference. I'm not sure what the laws are there but I know that I live in a state that has NO "Grandparent's Rights" and I know that I have spent MANY hours at CPS and talking to police and still my own grand is in a situation that I cry over almost daily. They might well have known and not been able to do anything. I know they said they didn't question HER but hopefully, they did do their part at CPS. One thing for sure, I know that if something ever happens to my grand, they will have records of me asking: "When will I get him? When you want me to pay for his funeral?!" It's awful, so awful, but sometimes, a grandparent just can't do anything!

(((((Sheromom))))) I know. I have some of the same worries with my own grandkids. I'm sending prayers and positive thoughts to you and yours.

I was frustrated because the GPs in this case said they "didn't know" and in my opinion they should have known. I would have been much more receptive if they would have said "we tried." kwim? We tried. We called for welfare checks when we were worried or when the BF was watching the child(ren). The GP's should have known the terms of his probation and called his probation anytime he violated them. You would know such things, right? I would know such things. I would make it my business. And I'm sorry these GP's didn't make it their business because now we have a lost little boy.

I agree 1000% that it is NOT their fault, they had no responsibility. But I think it is a good lesson to all GP's NOT to trust your child's choices when there is evidence of past wrong doing and your grands' are at risk.

There is a "plus" in this case and that is FINALLY the police arrested the person that was in charge for the well-being of Mark. This is what needs to be done each and every time a child goes missing under the watchful eye of an adult.

This is such a good point Patty. There are cases where a parent IS really doing their best and bad things happen. But it is obvious in this case that the child should never have been left with this 🤬🤬🤬.

Personally - I think the mother should be in jail also.

Sometimes that means there is movement in the investigation, but you usually will have local reporters showing that something is up. Don't know in this case, will have to wait and see.

Search In Hudson River for Missing Boy

MYFOXNY.COM - Fox 5 News has learned that scuba teams are going into the Hudson River to search a two mile stretch. Sources tell us police received a call from a tipster say they saw something suspicious along the river the day the boy disappeared. Right now, dive teams are going into Hudson River near the boy's house.

The family of Marc Anthony Bookal say they are losing hope that the 4-year-old boy will be found alive. They fear that the boy may have wandered off and fallen in the Hudson River.

Bookal's mother is also asking the police to stop focusing on her boyfriend as a suspect and worry more about finding the boy, according to reports.

Somethings up, I'd bet that much.

me too.. it usually means that what was going to be reported in the presser is no longer the situation..

I sure hope they've found something.. Hope to hear more later..

Bolded by me.

I have to say that comment really bothers me. I mean REALLY bothers me. From what I have seen and heard on a local level, LE has done nothing BUT look for this child. They've had dogs, boats, etc. You name it.

Marc's mother however, left her son alone with a man who already had a past issue with child abuse and another episode where he beat the living daylights out of an innocent person and yet SHE is mad that the police are focusing on her boyfriend?

I'm biting my tongue.

I'm having a hard time believing mom wasn't involved. The things she say's, the fact that the baby didn't make it to school that day, and her lack of emotion force me to think that maybe she hurt Marc, and perhaps the boyfriend dumped him (*GAG!*) so mom could go to work and things wouldn't be out of the ordinary? I don't know. I just think both of them are guilty.

Me too, this makes me soooo mad just the fact that she said that! She should WANT the BF to be checked out AND have people looking! She so sounds like covering for the BF, come on lady, he already violently abused another child! Why do you protect the SOB??? Are you THAT desperate for a man to sacrifice your own flesh and blood child???
Don't get me started! :furious:

Just checking in to see if Marc was found. I see a press conf. was announced then cancelled. Any word yet on another one?
TIA
