NY - Megan Wright, 19, suicide after no charges filed in dorm rape, 7 May 2006

Please tell me that this 🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬🤬 and his friends were prosecuted. I hope that your friend has gone on to have a happy life.

I also hope that the sickos who raped this young girl will be prosecuted and the school and whoever else is involved in this coverup is sued.

I wish I could give you an incredibly happy ending here-my friend would not press charges out of shame and went on to marry an emotionally unavailable cold, heartless man who shredded her at every opportunity because of this event in her life. I had the unique chance to confront her ex at her wedding reception (if you can believe he had the ball* to crash it) and tell him how if he did not leave I would grab the DJ's mike and announce what an upstanding guy he had been and relate the incident without mentioning her name of course. He left, but I wish I could have done something more. She was a gifted Christian Rock singer and deserved so much more than she got in life....bless her.

WHY would someone think that the written consent would let them off the hook. shouldn't that make them MORE suspicious? i've never heard of a woman giving written consent to having sex!!!!!! and the fact that he specifically went up to the security camera with it ... makes it more clear that he was trying to cover something up!!!!

im not surprised about this though. ive heard rumors at my university where girls' are pressured by the university -- and even paid off -- to drop rape charges.

Yeah, its ridiculous, for all anyone knows they told her it was all a joke and if she wrote it they would leave her alone.

I would think that significant bleeding and genital injuries that the nurse considered evidence of a BRUTAL rape would have trumped anything she might have signed under duress.

I'd also tend to believe that the video tape is highly inculpatory for both the school and the accused rapists or it would have been released to the girl's family.

But, this stuff happens every day. It is easy in hindsight to sympathize with her because she committed suicide, but I can fairly guarantee that if she had not killed herself there would be a lot of people who would choose to believe she consented to extremely rough group sex and then lied about it.

"An attorney for Dominican College yesterday denied allegations in a federal lawsuit claiming the school was negligent and indifferent to a 19-year-old student who said she was raped by three men in her dorm in May 2006.
Megan Wright of Ramsey, N.J., did not return to Dominican College that fall. She committed suicide in December 2006 at the age of 20."

These rapists need to be persecuted, there is no excuse for them not being charged. They also should be charged with murder, for what they did to that poor girl.

This is ridiculous that things like this still go on, but not surprising. The colleges answer is so full of BS - we didn't refuse to give her the tape, she just didn't make the right request for the tape. And she did formally file a report with the correct department or whatever because they pointed the poor girl in the wrong direction.

In any event, I don't see how that stupid note could mean a damn thing. I mean, you cannot consent to sex in a drunken stupor. Also, even if she could consent, she may not have consented to have any man come in and out of the room and have sex with her.

But not surprising, there was another case, I think in Michigan maybe, where a coed was MURDERED in her dorm room, but the college said she died of suspicious or natural causes and even told her parents so. For months, they knew a murder took place in their college and not only did they not advise other students, but they blatently lied about it. I believe the murderer was another coed and the dean ultimately had to step down due to the scandal. I hope these boys and the administrators who tried to keep it hush-hush get theirs.

if she was really giving consent, no note would be needed... because normal people dont do that in consensual activities. this whole situation reeks and people need to be held accountable.

I'm old fashioned I guess, I don't think that 'consensual' sex causes injuries and bleeding that a sexual assaults nurse says are the worst she's ever seen in 15 years on the job...especially if the victim was drunk in the first place, which should result in fewer injuries not more.

This tells old fashioned me that this girl when through a truly brutal gang rape.

I also can't see consensual sex leading to some girl's signature scrawled on a sign that says I want to have sex and that being held up for a video camera. If you are so sure you've got her consent, why would need a SIGN in the first place and why would you hold it up for the video? It seems to me that this was a ruse done to prevent a rape claim being successful because it was a rape that was going on.

I hope the detective, the three boys who had sex with her and all of the others who watched and high fives have miserable lives and are haunted by this girl's blood, figuratively and literally being on their hands. But I doubt it. I'm sure they've all moved on and decided she was a crazy, loose girl who got what she deserved.

Is our "friend" the detective still employed by either the college or the police dept? Because there is just too much collusion here for me to believe that he did nothing actionable. Or it is time for the guy to start walking a beat again because he learned nothing in "detective" school.

I can't believe the moonlighting Pet Detective dismissed her allegations b/c of the note....No one writes a note to consent to sex....that should have been his first clue something was wrong.....I'm so disgusted!!

FWIW, I just emailed the writer at the NY Post with a few questions and comments. If he sends anything back, I will let you know!!

The lawsuit also says that witnesses weren't interviewed and that the room where the alleged rape happened wasn't searched....so I'm not sure exactly how this could possibly constitute a full investigation in the minds of any competant police officer.

You don't talk to any witnesses, you don't talk to the accused perpetrators, you don't secure or search the room, you ignore what the sexual assault nurse tells you..brutal rape...presumably the cop also didn't view the tape, but he sees the note and decides there is no case...oh yeah, and he's coincidentally got a conflict of interest with the college and further coincidence...at least two of the accused perps are star athletes.

Sometimes it feels like nothing ever changes.

I guess I would like to know if the moonlighting cop was in the dorm that night? I'm glad the parents are suing! I know it won't bring their daughter back, but it may save someone else's daughter.
