"The Warren County Sheriff’s Office initially led the investigation. As the case progressed, law enforcement soon identified inconsistencies in the father’s account of events and the timeline the 45-year-old Canadian man provided.

With the assistance of the Essex County Sheriff’s Office, Ticonderoga Police Department, New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, New York State Forest Rangers, and New York State Police K9 and Aviation units, Melina was located deceased in Ticonderoga.

Due to jurisdictional considerations, the Warren County Sheriff’s Office has turned the investigation over to the New York State Police."

I speculate LE had a suspect, there had been either previous violence or threats made, and that's why they knew she was in imminent danger and also how they were able to find her. Tragically too late. But just my speculation. Hope an announcement of an arrest comes soon.

My personal opinion is that any stranger abduction should qualify as risk of harm because no one kidnaps a strange child with good intentions. I'm not sure if in this case they put it out for that reason or because if a father is reporting his child kidnapped when it didn't really happen, she's probably in danger from him.

Very sad. There's a lot of conflicting information. We need to be careful until there's some concrete statement. The father is a victim until proven otherwise. It is devasting that she was found not alive.

If the father is Canadian, it is possible that the family is from the Montreal area. A lot of Montrealers vacation in the Lake George area.

Oh no.
I saw a news article about this and came here to see if there were any updates.
So sad. And dad seems implicated. We see this way too often, killer moms and dads.
Some people don’t need to be parents.

The child was identified as Melina Frattolin, age 9, and the caller as her father, Luciano Frattolin, age 45, both residents of Canada.

The Warren County Sheriff’s Office initially led the investigation. As the case progressed, law enforcement identified inconsistencies in the father’s account of events and the timeline he provided.

So the dad reported the possible abduction but then his own story had inconsistencies? Is he involved or covering for someone he thought might be involved? idk

Melina's father was named above. He's from Montreal and he owns a coffee company. I won't say more until we see if charges are filed. Does LE saying that the father's story had inconsistencies qualify him as being a POI? Are we allowed to sleuth him?
