NY - Melina Frattolin, 9, Abducted, seen 9:40pm in a white van traveling south on I-87 near exit 22, Lake George, 19 Jul 2025 *arrest*

Not sure, but if you look at the pics the NYSP put out of the Prius, it looks like he's wearing the Tyvek suit in the driver's seat.
Sorry, I just see a white t-shirt from my vantage. I don't know how he'd be wearing the LE issue jump suit prior to his arrest. The photos of the Prius are the actual vehicle from surveillance cameras.

If that is him driving from surveillance cameras, then it sure looks like the same collar as the jump suit. That's also part of my questions, whether LE issues those type of Tyvek suits upon arrest. Don't want to assume anything.

This is just my own opinion.

First of all, I know that it's been established that of course she was not abducted from the rest area on the Northway, but the location that he said she was abducted from has bothered me since it came up, so I do want to give some local insight into why it might have raised a red flag pretty quickly So ... Just a thought as a local. The "rest stop" (it's just a parking area, no facilities) at exit 22 on 87 that he reported her being abducted from is very difficult to access if one is headed North on the Northway (87) - you have to leave the highway and take other roads to get back to the on-ramp for the southbound lanes. So the story of them being headed home (northbound) and ever being in that parking area is odd to begin with There are no signs headed northbound to indicate this parking area. I don't remember any headed southbound, either, but I could be wrong on that. The "van" being headed southbound out of the rest area makes sense, because that's the easiest exit from that spot and the signs are prominent, although there are other alternatives on the signage for lesser roads. But getting to the parking area in the first place is almost exclusively from being headed southbound on the Northway (87) unless you essentially jump through some weird hoops to get there. It's possible, but if you're not a local, you either wouldn't know it was even there while headed northbound or would have difficulty finding it. I'm sure that if he said they were headed north to Montreal, the cops would be scratching their heads wondering why he was in a parking area that was much more easily accessible while one was traveling southbound.
It's always great to have locals on a thread. Thanks for the insights!

I think he is wearing a regular casual shirt with short sleeves in the car and was later issued a tyvek after arrest.

He’s wearing a white short sleeved shirt. You can see his bare arms.

He was given the Tyvek suit to wear by law enforcement after they took his clothes as evidence. It looks to me like he was just wearing a white t-shirt in the car.
Ah ok. My bad - I thought he was seen wearing it before Melina was found.

It looks like he is wearing the white t-shirt described by the women who saw him running up the hill in the woods.
Look at the collar of the Tyvek suit and white sleeves- it isn’t the same.

IMO
Oh for Pete's sake, forgive for going back and forth on this, but I just saw these photos. It looks like he's driving in that suit, doesn't it? Maybe someone local would know if LE would issue a suit like that upon arrest.

The Photos below are of the actual vehicle which was a 2024 gray Toyota Prius.

Pretty sure the Tyvek suit was given to him after the arrest so they can collect DNA and inspect his clothes for further evidence.

Thanks Everyone for your input. It took a village to convince me he was issued that Tyvek suit by LE upon his arrest and not driving around in it.

What’s the reason for going to the grand jury? Up the charges?

I think it's just because it's a felony and the defendant didn't ask to waive it?

"Grand juries are required by the New York State Constitution in cases where a person is charged with a felony, unless the person waives the grand jury process in open court and in writing."

Thanks for the link.

I was pleased to hear this last night for a couple of reasons. First, LF didn't enter a plea at his arraignment-- his PD spoke for him. Second, he's a foreigner being charged with the murder of a child on American soil--he's in for an awakening! JMO

This now seems like it was a plan that he thought of before taking his daughter on a lovely one-on-one vacation, including that last meal and call to her mother. What do you all think? Was that his plan?

I can't imagine how a father could do that to the one person who may have adored him. That the mother trusted him enough and didn't have any qualms about him taking the girl on such a vacation surprises me. Nothing is worth doing what he did to escape debt or for revenge. How could someone even do that to that precious little girl?

The guy seemed like he could've been a real jerk, MOO. He should've attempted budgeting instead of all the spending and the scheming he was doing. Murdered his daughter who trusted and adored him! Plus, is he totally dumb to not consider all legal drawbacks to his plan if he's caught? If this was a plan it's such an unforgivable act.
