Missing Troy man had allegedly been threatened before vanishing
TROY — A 49-year-old computer specialist who vanished in early January had been preparing to go into hiding after allegedly being threatened by a person acquainted with a woman who had attacked him two days before he disappeared.
Michael T. McMahon III, who lived in an apartment on President Street, disappeared a day after he was released from Samaritan Hospital on Jan. 2, where he had been treated for injuries that police said he suffered during an attack by 27-year-old Salina Brown-Shook.
Snip
McMahon was last seen on Jan. 3, a day after he was discharged from Samaritan Hospital.
A person familiar with McMahon's situation that week — but not authorized to comment publicly — said that at the hospital he warned Troy police officers that Brown-Shook and a man acquainted with her had made serious threats against him. The man had also allegedly sent McMahon a threatening text message
Snip
On the Friday he was last seen, McMahon and a female acquaintance had been making arrangements to leave Troy and stay in a hotel, in part, because of the threats he had been receiving, the person said.
Snip
The woman, whose identity is being withheld by the Times Union, reported McMahon missing to Troy police on Jan. 3, after he failed to respond to her calls or text messages. Eventually, his phone no longer rang or indicated it had received text messages.
Troy police were initially reluctant to allow McMahon's female acquaintance to file a missing person's report because she is not related to him. But they agreed to check his apartment that Friday, Jan. 3, and visited the residence again the following Sunday and Monday. There was no sign he had been there, the person said.

This doesn't sound good for Michael. I hope he's somewhere safely hiding out while getting well. I'm afraid for him.
