About 4:30 p.m., a maintenance worker called 911 after finding a body in a detached garage at 63 Lake View Park, which is just off Lake Avenue.
The man "smelled something coming from the garage," Rochester Police Capt. Frank Umbrino said.
Police were summoned and confirmed the worker's findings, Umbrino said.
"We cannot tell if it is a male or a female," Umbrino said. "We cannot tell how long it has been there. With the heat and everything else, decomposition is an issue."
The body has been turned over to the Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office to determine a cause of death an an identity, Umbrino said.
"Until we can say that there is no foul play involved, we are treating as a suspicious unattended death."
