NEW YORK (1010 WINS) – Police are searching for a 2-year-old Bronx boy who hasn't been seen since he had a court-ordered visitation with his father a month ago.

The NYPD said Monday that the father of Montrell Williams had visitation rights and legally took his son on May 10. But the father never returned with the boy, and his mother called police May 30 to claim custodial interference.

There was new urgency in the case on Monday, when the mother said she saw the father and asked where Montrell was—and the dad didn't answer.

She called police, who brought the father into the precinct stationhouse for questioning on Monday.

Who sets up a visitation at 10pm for a 2yr old? IMO. Very concerned for this baby.
Last seen wearing a white shirt and diaper, when being dropped off at 10 pm at night. Short of the parents working odd shift hours for work this seems pretty unusual. As a Mom, I couldn't imagine just handing over my toddler to another person (even a co-parent) for 3+ weeks without any kind of contact. Especially when it was reported that he only lived a mile from where he was dropped off. 2-year-old NYC boy vanishes, cops question dad: sources

The woman told police she gave Montrell to his dad on May 10, but she has not seen the boy since, sources said. He was supposed to bring the boy back on May 30.

During that time, the mom was asking about the child’s well-being and told police Montrell was not returned on May 30, sources said.
No mention if she was getting any responses back.

On Monday morning, the mom saw the dad, but he didn’t have their son and made unusual comments, like he might be ok or even alive, sources said.
I have a terrible feeling this will not have a happy ending.

What happened to Montrell? Search for missing NYC 2-year-old turns to Bronx River

This article has some new details.

It says the boy was with his father and mother at a family celebration (on May 10th) when the father walked off with him. The mother contacted the police that night and the police took it as a domestic report so it was not sent to detectives. The mother and other family members then made multiple police calls when Montrell was not returned. When the mother ran into the father on Saturday (June 7th) in Manhattan, he pulled a knife on her and, at some point told her the boy was in the river.

Just absolutely terrible.

Police sources say they have video evidence of the father throwing something into the Bronx River. This is where police have been searching for the past two days.

Mom is only 17, with a two year old. (source) I'm afraid to even try to find the father's age. (MOO: I'm guessing he was over 18 when this poor baby was conceived - with a 14- or 15-year-old girl.)

Edit: I see that he's 20, so he was probably around his 18th birthday when Montrell was conceived. Still pretty terrible, IMO.

A Bronx Family Court judge ordered 20-year-old Arius Williams held without bail for contempt of court Monday for refusing to divulge the location of the boy. While jailed on a contempt of court order, a defendant has to come back to court each day and is given a chance to cooperate, a law enforcement source said.

But on Tuesday Williams refused to get on the bus at Rikers Island to face the judge, the source said.

The father’s refusal to cooperate comes as police and prosecutors work to build a criminal case against him, sources said.
