What a sad and tragic story. I was sad enough about the couple, and then my heart just fell to the floor when I read that the baby died this morning. What a beautiful couple they were. May they all rest in peace.

My only hope after reading this terrible story, was that the baby would survive. Now I am heartbroken! Rest in peace to the little family who never had a chance :(. My heart goes out to the remaining family. What a terrible tragedy and so unnecessary.

The driver of the cab survived and was treated and released! Looking at pictures of the crash you would have thought he didn't survive either! I hope they find the SOB who slammed into them and lock his drunk azz up for a long time - if not forever. Can't say for sure he was drunk, but he was cited for a DWI back in Feb. according to the article.

I hope so, too. I assume (and possibly wrongly) that the driver had to be drunk or on drugs or having a medical issue to be driving fast enough to hit a car and cause that kind of damage. I'm going to guess it was a medical issue or the guy wouldn't have ran/be able to run away.

I haven't read anywhere yet about if the couple was wearing their seatbelts (in my head, I just imagined they were) and even if they weren't, I'm just blown away by the description of how the young woman was thrown from the vehicle and found under a trailer.

It's very sad that the baby didn't make it, but in a way, I'd like to think at least the parents and baby are together now.

One of the articles clearly stated (no link) that the taxi was stopped at a light. The BMW was travelling at a high rate of speed. No question who's fault it is.

One comment I read said they probably took off because they were drunk or high.

The whole story is disgusting! That they could do this! I'm Jewish...but hardly a very religious one.

Actually the articles I've seen indicate the taxi was at the stop sign, but unclear if it had stopped. So it's not clear at all to me. Taxi driver claims to not rememeber anything about this crush.

"The livery cab had a stop sign, but it's not clear if the driver stopped. Police said the crash with the BMW reduced the cab to a crumpled heap, and Raizy Glauber was thrown from the wreck. The engine ended up in the back seat, Abraham said."

Also says the cabs engine went INTO the backseat, does that mean a head on collision? Most of those taxi's are retired police cars, not sure if this one was but wow...putting the engine into the backseat? If they get hit from behind they have a tendency to blow up in a fireball (like the crash with the taxi in Las Vegas) but never heard about the engine thing (I drive a retired cop car so stay aware of issues like that).

T-bone collision from what is reported.
Taxi apparently had a stop sign. Uncler if stopped. The other guy was reportedly speeding, but didn't have a stop sign.

"The impact from the T-bone collision sent the livery cab spinning onto the median and ejected Raizel Glauber into the street, her pregnant body coming to rest under a parked tractor trailer."

Some details here I haven't seen yet:

Police hunted for the suspected driver, identified as Julio Acevedo, saying he was barreling down a residential street in a BMW at 60 mph, or twice the speed limit, early Sunday when he collided with a car hired to take the couple to the hospital.

The driver of the livery cab, Pedro Nunez Delacruz, was knocked unconscious but was not seriously hurt. His vehicle should not have been sent to pick up the passengers because an application to use the Toyota as a livery cab had not yet been approved, the city Taxi and Limousine Commission said.

Who is harboring the suspect? His photo has been all over the national news. It's time to charge anyone who's helping him evade capture.

NEW YORK (AP) — The suspected driver who fled the scene of a grisly crash that killed a pregnant woman, her husband and ultimately the child they were expecting is meeting with an attorney Tuesday and plans to report to police.

Julio Acevedo, 44, told the Daily News of New York that he was speeding away from a gunman who was trying to shoot him early Sunday when the accident with a hired car happened in the Williamsburg section of Brooklyn.

He said he fled the scene because he was worried he'd be killed and didn't know the couple had died until he saw it in newspapers.

"My heart goes out to them," Acevedo told the newspaper Tuesday in a phone call arranged by a friend. "I didn't know they died until I saw the news.".....................more at link........

"We are still looking to apprehend him," police spokesman Paul Browne said. "We have no information that he is going to surrender."............

:floorlaugh:

I hope they throw the book at him the coward for as long as possible. I feel so sad that this lovely young couple and their child died due to the dangerous and reckless actions of this individual. If only they hadn't left at that particular time. It's a reminder that you should never take life for granted it can be taken from you in an instant.

So glad this 🤬🤬🤬 was caught. I am worried that he will get out on bail or that his fleeing the crime scene has made it impossible to charge him with a DUI homicide. I fully believe he was drinking and fled due to that.

I hope he is charged in the death of the infant as well. I hope that the jail time he gets for all the charges are all consecutive and NOT concurrent,
