A newborn baby in New York City got a second chance at life when bystanders — including a doorman and a group of EMTs — rushed to help him after he was left abandoned outside of an apartment building.

From the Same article:
According to multiple outlets, the mother — 37-year-old Ayatta Swann — was identified after she checked herself into the same hospital that the baby was taken to. The NYPD said that Swann was charged with abandonment of a child, per News 12 New York and CBS News New York.

We obviously don’t know her story so it’s sort of wrong to judge but ffs, if you don’t want the baby there are a million people out there who would take them. There are safe spaces to abandon your baby if for whatever reason you can’t take care of them, absolutely no need to just leave the baby somewhere

Thank goodness fast-acting people heard the baby - at 3am! - and saved this baby's life. I'm grateful to them. Best wishes to the little one.

I wonder why she left her helpless newborn baby outside, naked, cord still attached, with only a blanket; then proceeded to check herself into the hospital to receive medical care. The irony....
