NY NY - Norine Higuchi Brown, 31, Nassau County, 12 Dec 1990

  • #21
Interesting new article with several pictures in link:

"Six months ago, Brown’s friend received a tip about a well in the backyard of the apartment building where Brown was living at the time with her husband. News 12 confirmed the well had been sealed up and that the Nassau Police Department had been notified. The well has not yet been excavated.

Randazzi says she was “discouraged, but not disappointed” that the police have yet to check it out."

Friends of missing Nassau woman revive cold case 28 years later

-----------------

I must say, I wish everyone had friends like Norine's friends, who still after almost 30 years are determined to find out what happened to her.

Added to Charley project: Norine Higuchi Brown – The Charley Project

Details of Disappearance
Norine was last seen in New Hyde Park, New York at 11:00 p.m. on December 12, 1990, the day before her thirty-second birthday. Her husband, John Brown, said she left to go buy ingredients for Christmas cookies and never returned. She has never been heard from again.

The next morning, John called Norine's friend, Elaine Commando, and said she'd never come home the night before. He said they'd argued and asked if Norine had spent the night at Commando's house, which was near the Browns' home. She hadn't; Commando had no idea where she was.

John asked Commando to go to the Pathmark Super Center (now defunct) on Jericho Turnpike in Garden City Park, New York and look for her car. The shopping center was only about a mile from the Browns' home. Commando went there and found Norine's station wagon abandoned in the parking lot; it was locked and there were wrapped Christmas presents inside it.

Norine has never been heard from again. She had only $45 in her pocketbook at the time of her disappearance, and she left her wallet and identification behind at home.

Investigators don't know whether she actually went inside the supermarket that night. It wasn't uncharacteristic of her to go shopping at odd hours, because she preferred to go when stores were less crowded. A Pathmark employee recalled seeing Norine's car in the parking lot shortly after 11:00 p.m. on the night of her disappearance, but no one remembered seeing Norine herself.

Commando stated John and Norine had a rocky relationship and she thinks John may have killed her. He hired an attorney after her disappearance and refused to let police search his and Norine's home and property. He maintains his innocence in her case and stated he thinks Norine was murdered.

Norine left behind two children under the age of two. Her husband has since remarried and had two more children, and still lives in the local area. No one has been named as a suspect in Norine's disappearance.

Norine Brown left her New Hyde Park, Long Island home around 11 p.m. on December 13, 1990, to go to the store to buy supplies to make cookies. The 32-year-old mother of two never came back. Norine’s husband, John, called her friend Elaine and asked her to drive by the local Pathmark. Elaine made a horrible discovery. Norine’s car was in the parking lot. It was locked and there were wrapped Christmas presents in the back of the car. Police took down a missing persons report and an investigation began. Elaine’s husband, John, previously told News 12 Long Island that he believes his wife was murdered. No persons of interest or suspects have been named in Norine’s case. Does Norine have any rule outs?

I think this might be her. I wonder if they have checked on this woman. NY - NY - Kings Co, WhtFem UP7390, 20-40, pregnant, in grassy area off Seaview Ave, May'91

Below is a map showing distance to where the UID lady was found and where Norine lived. Upon reading more about the case.. I read her husband was a FDNY so he would know the city well.

And lastly it’s less likely to get caught if you dump a body in Brooklyn (Kong’s County) which is a totally different county than Nassau County less likely to be detected.

I have an ex boyfriend who lived in Nassau County and him and his friends had dumped cars in Brooklyn to make them look like they were stolen for insurance. . They used to joke about going cross County lines to do the deed.

It’s so easy to get there to the spot in Brooklyn the UID was found. Nassau County is not far at all.. but it’s a totally different county and that is the key!

I see @Gardener1850 (where are you, btw?) brought up Norine in Gold Pig Pendant Lady's thread, but I don't know if she's been ruled out, though.

Gold Pig Pendant Lady's WS thread:
NY - NY - Lattingtown, AsianFem UP10952, 20-50, golden pig pendant, Jan'13

oh yes Mrs Badcrumble I remember that now..she was compared to the pig necklace lady. I wondered about that. Norine was German and Japanese. The pig necklace is a Chinese culture thing. Is it also Japanese?

Yeah where has Gardner1850 been?

I linked Gardener's post because they had thoughts about it.
