Watching CNN live coverage from Times Square. Driver in custody. I think reporter said he is 26. Has history of DUIs. Appears to be accident or driver error. Bomb squad being brought to area. Media asked to push back.

Car Rams Into Pedestrians in NYC’s Times Square, Killing at Least 1

NEW YORK — A car plowed into pedestrians in the heart of midtown Manhattan's Times Square district around noon Thursday, killing at least one person and injuring more than a dozen, a senior official told NBC News.

City fire officials tweeted that at least 12 patients were being treated at the scene, although the extent of their injuries was unclear...

The Times Square driver has been identified as a Navy vet with a history of drunk driving.

A young woman, I think. I saw one shot of a young woman lying crumpled and later the same figure with a blanket or similar over her head and shoulders.

I saw a tweet from the girl who was right next to her. She also said the car sped up and aimed for people.
