May Patrick Alford Sr RIP.

I knew Patrick had issues with his foster placement but I did not catch that he was suicidal, nor that welfare authorities were aware of this fact, weeks before his disappearance.

The city’s child-welfare authorities knew a Staten Island boy who vanished last year from his foster home was “suicidal” weeks before his mysterious disappearance in The Bronx, but did nothing to help him, his dad charges.

The children’s father, Patrick Alford Sr., was ready to take them, as were other relatives, but the city instead sent the kids to live with Brooklyn foster mom Librada Moran.

In just a few weeks it became clear that Patrick was miserable and deeply depressed living without his loved ones in a home where no one even spoke English, his father claims in a Brooklyn federal court lawsuit.

IMO I find it a tad irresponsible that Law Enforcement continue to state they believe he is alive. There is no evidence suggesting that, and now knowing that there are records indicating he was suicidal prior to his disappearance, it just rubs me the wrong way. We know he never made it back to his mom, we know he was never found, and we know he was an unprepared 7 year old boy who ran away on a cold January night in New York City.

I am really hoping I am wrong here and we learn something to suggest otherwise, but I find it unkind to give false hope. Bordering on adding insult to injury.

Unless they know something.

Yes agreed. Which is why I said, unless they have evidence stating otherwise.

I’m just surprised that if they believe he still alive, he would be actively avoiding his family. It’s hard to believe. I’m not gonna lie.

He would be 22 now.
