This is what happens when national IQs drop and elected leadership takes advantage.

A U.S. official says a “functional explosive device” was found at Hillary and Bill Clinton’s suburban New York home.

The official says investigators believe the explosive is linked to one found Monday at the compound of liberal billionaire George Soros.

Tribeca: Suspicious package found at Robert De Niro's New York production company - CNNPolitics

Before this package was reported, authorities said seven pipe bombs stashed in manila envelopes were discovered this week addressed to six prominent Trump critics: Former President Barack Obama; former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton; former Attorney General Eric Holder; Democratic US Rep. Maxine Waters (one to her California office and one to her office in Washington); former CIA director John Brennan (sent to CNN's New York offices); and billionaire investor and Democratic donor George Soros.

Is there a more active thread on these bombs?
It will be interesting to see how many more show up. Fortunately, none of them have detonated. I imagine the FBI and BATFE will probably solve this relatively quickly given the number of bombs and what must be a ton of clues.

There was an active thread but it got out of hand and was shut down for being too political.

none of the packages were postmarked. the pictures are suspect, and the "bombs" were poorly constructed and clearly not intended to denotate. bomb experts are already calling this out as a political move, but people are too frothy with the hysteria to examine the photos released with a critical eye, and it doesn't take a partisan hack to figure these things out either. at this point in our society, however, who can expect a civil conversation?

There was an active thread going on yesterday, Oct 24, but the thread was closed. I totally support the WS rule about no political talk. But it's too bad WSers weren't able to abide by the rules because I do think this is a criminal case and I would like to discuss the investigation process. But the thread turned immediately into political jabs and there was no turning of that boat. With the newest developments, I doubt a new thread would be any better. :(

I'm following the case on my own, which, of course, anyone can do.

The interesting part about this bomb, is how absolutely stereotypical it is, excessive postage, misspellings, unusual return address. Misshapen. It almost screams, "Bomb inside". Not the norm for government packages. Which is usually small boxes, flat envelopes. This thing is almost a SNL skit or parody of "Bomb 101".

The sheer number of bombs sent at once is certainly unusual. Typically these mail bombers are just one crazy person, and I assume that will likely be the case here. Although we will see, could be a couple of people. Were the bombings in Austin Texas ever solved? I can't recall.

Following.

Let's look at the clues:
1) No bombs went off. Commented by one inside member - couldn't have gone off.
2) Bombs looked amateurish.
3) Bombs appear to be meant to be found.
4) 2 weeks from election.

Trying to be objective here, but it looks like someone trying to make the other side look bad right before election day.

Whomever did this, they left wayyyy too many clues. If I am not mistaken, if they were either mailed or sent via FedEx etc., they get scanned... so they will know what post office or box they were dropped off at... this will unravel for this person in about a week.

They were definitely meant to be found. Also, word has it they could not have exploded.

So... where does that leave us? Political stunt on one side or the other... a crackpot in either case.

yes, the Austin Bomber, Mark Anthony Conditt, was caught on camera wearing a wig by security cameras at FedEx, his car with the license was also caught on security cams. LE chased him and he committed suicide by denotating his own bomb in his car.
His video manifesto was never released publicly.

Thank you. Yes, now I remember that. Very strange.

I think we will just have to wait and see. I read the article in the NY Post a bit ago that quoted someone that had seen both the Soros and CNN bombs and that neither of them even had a blasting cap. So, they really couldn't have detonated. What should we make of that? Hard to say and would still just be speculation. All possibilities are still on the table I think. I would still tend to lean towards just a very unstable nut that wanted to scare these targets. But who knows. Hopefully LE solves this very quickly.

So no known motive. However, FBI/LE must know but fear copycats if they released the 25-minute video.

The 'bomb' was delivered by courier to CNN. I hope they were able to obtain surveillance footage from the Time Warner Center. You would think the courier would come forward unless he's in on the terror plot.

Several suspicious packages might have originated in Florida, investigators say

Investigators believe some of the packages might have originated in Florida, according to a law enforcement official. A second law enforcement official told CNN on Thursday that federal investigators were in Florida, chasing down leads.

The suspicious white powder found in an envelope along with the device sent to John Brennan and CNN was tested and found not to be anthrax or other known agents, the source said. Additional tests will be done in the coming days.
