GUILTY NY - Port Authority Bus Terminal, Several injured after device explodes, Manhattan, Dec 2017

Does this terrorist not know that ISIS has murdered many Muslims also?

He must feel the only Muslims that truly count are the terrorists who are being killed. He must not care about the countless other peace loving Muslims, ISIS, and other terrorists have murdered in cold blood in the most barbaric ways that are almost unimaginable to believe or comprehend.

JUST IN: Family of NYC terror attack suspect releases statement, saying they’re “outraged” by actions of law enforcement - WABC

Uh what???? This family statement is infuriating. Maybe bc I’m a NYer I am taking it personally. What teen and 4 year old are they talking about? They should be outraged by their family member detonating his homemade pipe bomb, bc if he didn’t, theyd have no reason to be outraged by the actions of LE. I don’t know whether to laugh or cry at this statement. Frankly, I hope LE is looking into them as well if they are so bold as to make such a comment right after their family member attempted to blow up the subway. Shame on them.

What in the heck are they talking about? The actions of law enforcement? LE did nothing wrong. This terrorist wasn't shot or harmed by LE and was taken to the hospital for the injuries he created.

How about outrage against their family member who premeditated a terrorist plot planning to explode a bomb meant for innocent people?

Statements like this gives me the creeps. It is as they approved of what he did. Just stating how it comes across to me.

Is this fake as cAIR is written as CARE

http://abcnews.go.com/US/nyc-terror-suspects-family-heartbroken-attack/story?id=51727576

"We are heartbroken by the violence that was targeted at our city today, and by the allegations being made against a member of our family," the family said in a statement, which was read in front of the Ullah family's home in Brooklyn by Albert Fox Cahn, legal director for Council on American-Islamic Relations-New York.

"But we are also outraged by the behavior of law enforcement officials who have held children as small as 4 years old out in the cold and who held a teenager out of high school classes to interrogate him without a lawyer, without his parents," the statement continued. "These are not the sorts of actions that we expect from our justice system, and we have every confidence that our justice system will find the truth behind this attack and that we will, in the end, be able to learn what occurred today."

It's not clear who the children and the teenager referred to in the statement are.

Good gravy I hope so. I only saw one other link with the statement so I can’t confirm. I really really hope it’s fake.

ETA I did a little more digging and can only come up with abc as a source. So I’m not going to take it as gospel until there are additional sources with Albert cahn being officially quoted.

Haven’t these terrorists (lone wolves, whatever you want to call them) learned not to mess with NY? Don’t they realize that we experienced the worst terrorist attack in the country and won’t stand for this? I’m so glad this guy is alive... he will have to face the music and be held accountable for his actions. I’m not going to get into the immigration argument but I’m pretty confident it’s going to be a hot topic in my neck of the woods after these two recent incidents. Glad this loser didn’t accomplish what he intended to.

If Ullah had a serious problem with the USA...why did he come here?

  • #70
  • #71
So he could murder the people he hated?

It may not have started out that way. He prob came to the US for a better life and better opportunities. Didn’t integrate as easily as he expected. Started to resent Americans because he didn’t fit in. But doesn’t want to go back to Bangladesh bc well, it’s still a pretty poor nation. So here we are.

Admittedly, fitting in requires effort.

OTOH if an immigrant's background prohibits the mingling with those who are well "different" due to certain beliefs...you know, it is a catch-22 situation.

Then living in a borough of NYC is probably not the best plan for an immigrant whose culture doesn’t want them mingling with others who may not believe what they believe. I get that every area of the city has certain cultures that are predominant. But sorry, you move to a nyc boro and you’re going to have neighbors of all colors and creeds. You need to learn to mingle here. Then maybe it is best if people who immigrate from foreign countries don’t settle in NY if that’s the issue. Idk I’m just thinking out loud.

Suspect in Times Square Bombing Leaves Trail of Mystery
NYTimes

One man, who has worshiped at the mosque for 15 years and gave his name only as Mohammad, said Mr. Ullah prayed there regularly, especially during Ramadan. Mr. Ullah, Mohammad said, was close to the mosque’s imam and was often seen with him at afternoon prayers. But Mr. Yousuf, the cabdriver, said he had not seen Mr. Ullah at the mosque in the past five or six months.

Port Authority Subway Bomber Imports a Tactic From Overseas
NYT

...With the Islamic State shedding territory overseas and fighters frustrated at the prospect of reaching the battlefield abroad, once-unthinkable tactics have made an appearance in New York, too.
...
Suicide bombings are exceedingly difficult for the police to stop once they have been set into motion, and the attack left counterterrorism experts reckoning with how guerrilla tactics recently adopted by the Islamic State as it faces losses abroad could be countered.

“Old tactics, they never really come off the table,” said David C. Kelly, a former assistant commissioner for counterterrorism in the New York Police Department. “It’s probably one of the toughest attack methods to detect and prevent.”

New York suspect bomber’s family lives in Dhaka’s Hazaribagh, locals say
The Daily Star 12/12/17

Locals have primarily traced suspected New York bomber Akayed Ullah’s family to be living in Hazaribagh area of Bangladesh’s capital Dhaka.
...
They moved from the region some 30 years ago and were never seen or heard of since, Abu Taher, Union Parishad member of Musapur Union, said when the correspondent contacted him today.

UP member Abu Taher said they have traced a distant relative of the family still living there. “He has been summoned.”

Chittagong district police Superintendent Noor-E-Alam Mina told The Daily Star that the family has some property in Sandwip, but it is uninhabited and unused.

"His father Sanaullah left Sandwip at the age of 22 and came to Dhaka. He got married here and his son Akayed Ulla was born in Dhaka," said UNB's Chittagong correspondent quoting one of the villagers who wished to remain unnamed.

He said Sanaullah, who hailed from ward number 9 of Musapur Union in Sandwip upazila of Chittagong district, passed away two years back in New York. "He was buried there."

Talking to UNB, Musapur Union Chairman M Abul Khayer Nadim said he is going to visit Sanaullah's village to get details. "We're trying to get the family background."

Talking to UNB, Emdad, cousin of Akayed Ullah, said Akayed Ullah's family came to Bangladesh from the USA twice since 2011 and visited Sandwip once.

He mentioned that Akayed's father had a grocery shop in Hazaribagh.

Emdad, son of Borhan Uddin Bhutan, said Sandwip police asked him to meet in the afternoon.

He used to live in Kuwait but is now permanently living in Sandwip.
...
Sohel Mahmud, a Bangladesh citizen from Sandwip and now in New York, said Akayed Ulah has a nickname - "Shapu" he is not well known in the big Sandwip community in the USA.

He said Shapu lived in Bangladesh until he was 20 years old and he has two sisters and one elder brother.

Shapu, along with his two sisters, mother and father, went to the USA in 2011 with the help of his brother Apu.

"We're embarrassed. It's a shame for all who are from Sandwip," Kazi Iftekharul Alam Tareq, who is also from Sandwip, told UNB.

Sources said late Sanaullah had business in Hazaribagh area and owned a building in Dhaka.

New York City Narrowly Avoids Another Terror Attack
The New Yorker

...
“It’s a little scary, but crazy things happen in New York City,” she said, laughing. “I’m gonna go work today, go home, and do the exact same thing tomorrow.”
...
Ullah has told investigators that he intended the attack as retaliation for U.S. airstrikes on ISIS compounds, and chose the location for its Christmas decorations. But the crude explosive—made from a broken Christmas-tree bulb, black powder, and a nine-volt battery—malfunctioned, blowing off its caps but failing to blast the pipe apart.
...
He hoisted his bags onto his shoulders and headed back toward the station. “Going home for good," he said. He reflected that the attack had happened during his final moments living in New York. "I’m just blessed that he didn’t blow up the Port Authority,” he said with a smile. “So I can leave.”

After NYC subway bombing, Trump slams ‘chain migration’
Colleen Long and Jennifer Peltz, Associated Press

New York — A would-be suicide bomber’s rush-hour blast in the heart of the New York City subway system failed to cause the bloodshed he intended, authorities said, but it gave new fuel to President Donald Trump’s push to limit immigration.

Hours after Monday’s explosion in an underground passageway connecting two of Manhattan’s busiest stations, Trump cited the background of the bomber in renewing his call for closer scrutiny of foreigners who come to the country and less immigration based on family ties.

The man arrested in the bombing, Akayed Ullah — who told investigators he wanted to retaliate for American action against Islamic State extremists — came to the U.S. from Bangladesh in 2011 on a visa available to certain relatives of U.S. citizens...
