NEW YORK -- A 5-month-old boy has suffered brain damage and is unable to breathe on his own following an apparent assault, said police, who are now searching for his parents.
The infant was brought unconscious to Jamaica Hospital from the Broadway Junction section of Brooklyn on Friday afternoon, police said.
He was later transferred to Schneider Children's Hospital in Nassau County, and police were called to
investigate Saturday night.
It's unclear why the police were not called in sooner, said police spokesman Detective Dennis Laffin.
