The 3-year-old boy had been playing with his 7-year-old sister outside at a family gathering when the two were struck by gunfire around 9:30 p.m. on Friday, June 21, Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown said at a press conference alongside Buffalo police officials on Saturday, June 22.

Two people of interest have been interviewed and released, but police need more information from the community.

“We are talking about a three-year-old baby that didn’t see his fourth birthday,” Buffalo Police Commissioner Joseph Gramaglia said in the press conference. “We need your help. We need to clear this case.”

BUFFALO, N.Y. — Crime Stoppers WNY is offering a reward of up to $7,500 in connection to the shooting death of 3-year-old Ramone Carter.

The boy was shot around 9:30 p.m. Friday on Domedion Avenue, in the city's Schiller Park neighborhood.

Ramone was taken by ambulance to Erie County Medical Center, where he later died. His 7-year-old sister was also shot and was being treated at Oishei Children's Hospital, Buffalo Police said.

Erie County District Attorney Michael Keane said the two boys, one 16 and the other 14, have been charged with murder, attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon, WKBW reported. The older boy faces 25 years to life if convicted, while the younger boy faces 15 years to life.
