WASHINGTON HEIGHTS, Manhattan (WABC) --
An intense search is underway for a father of two young children who suddenly disappeared while on his way to work.

What started out as a search for a missing young father in Washington Heights has intensified following potential sightings on social media.

"A team went to Pelham Parkway, Fordham, we went over right here to Parkchester, Castle Hill, Grand Concourse, Yankee Stadium," said the man's brother, Freddie Ramos.

"This way all the way up to Broadway and crosses on the left hand to take the train to Fort Washington," said Rhony's sister Elsa Franco as she traced the route. "We've done this route countless times."

There was no sign of him either on the A-train he takes everyday.

Ramos has never disappeared like this before.

Last Wednesday Rhony woke up at 6 a.m. to head to work as a porter on the Lower East Side.

Washington Heights Father Missing for 2 Weeks

Family and friends held a vigil for Rhony Ramos on a street corner in the neighborhood, holding out hope that he'll come home. He was last seen on the morning of Nov. 28, after his mother woke him up for work.

"He overslept, he just said, 'Bye, Mom,'" according to his brother Freddie Ramos. "She looked out the window, she seen him rushing towards the train. He took the train but he never came home. He never made it to work and never came home."

My heart goes out to his family, and to Rhony, of course. We’re familiar with schizophrenia in our family and it can be devastating to cope with. But it’s not hopeless by any means, and I’m pulling for him to be able to get through this and come home to his family. He’s clearly loved, and that’s simply priceless.

Just HATE cases like this! Too many people affected with mental health issues simply disappear. I am not victim-blaming at all, simply expressing frustration.

Family desperately trying to find NYC father missing for a month

A family in Washington Heights desperately wants the city to help in the search for a father last seen more than a month ago.

Lawmakers and neighbors joined the family of Rhony Ramos for a search party Saturday.

The NYPD joined in the search but City Councilman Ydanis Rodriguez said the city isn't doing enough, calling on City Hall to devote more resources to the search.
