When a family is living beyond their means, they do all the things they want to, that's what causes the money issues. So many people get into debt, owning homes they can no longer afford, lavish vacations, expensive meals out. Credit card debt rises as the spending rises.

But what makes you so sure they are leaving beyond their means? We have no idea what their finances are and if his car is 9 years old..that might tell one that maybe it is not the most important thing to him as a trip to italy and nice dinners out with whole family would suggest fun time spent with family was more important than a new car....JMO

I'm not sure, its just a theory, my opinion on the topic, not particularly directed at RM and IM, just a generalization of how hard it has gotten to live on LI the past years. But, a guy who parks on the street in Brooklyn rather than pay for a secured lot, drives an old car and scraps metal, is being frugal, again, in my opinion.

I see your point.. its just hard to tell though because although money is not a strain for me, I do little things where I can to cut back in order to afford some extra splurges elsewhere. In this economy, we all have had to make some cutbacks. If. Not for right now, for the future.

From a personal perspectve, I've had a rough 3 years. I was unemployed for 14 months, seperated from my ex, sold my house (a miracle in this LI economy), bought a nice place, just recently divorce was finalized.

I have not taken a vacation in 3 years due to all of this. And, most importantly, I have no credit card debt. To me, I'm living within my means. Its all a matter of what's important to each individual.

I had a friend once who had several major credit cards, all maxed out. He had everything he wanted, but owed hundreds of thousands to the credit card companies.

I have to agree with you here!

Is Ida Employed or just Robert?
Does she have a car?
Mortgage?
tuitions of any kind?.
Insurance for autos?
Heating bills!
AC bills.
Phones
Comcast bill alone will make ya go broke! lol
Water bills
Taxes.

Im sure he makes an excellent salary but if he is the only income in the family that's a stretch IMO.

I wonder if he ever went out for beers with the guys Friday afternoons ....after work/
Was he invited places with them?
Drinking buddies,,, maybe they would know something? These guys are like family to one another if anyone would know these guys would right?
Having known lots of family and friends in the trades, going out for drinks on a Friday is really common practice. Since RMs last "known" location was Arrow, I would really love to know if anyone has questioned patrons at the Cherry Bombz place a few buildings away. I have purposely driven past there around 2-2:30 and the parking lot is packed. Perhaps not the kind of place one would want to admit their spouse went to though.

That's an excellent thought!
And Friday afternoons bars are hopping!
End of the week time for a brew!

I don't think he left his wallet in the garage in the morning.
I think he came back and left his wallet when they have video of the car driving down his street.
This is my theory lol........
He drove back to the house but didn't park in the drive maybe parked a down the block...He went to the garage left his wallet and was it money he got from the scrap yard????
He got his bike and left and(blank) got in his car and took it to the train station! Maybe they are showing the wrong pic at the train station cause Robert was never there.....

....really?

not out of left field at all--- i had wondered if he saw something, was privy to info, saw something with another trade on the job and felt it was best to vanish. the fact that alot of people are not speaking, not searching for him speaks volumes.

....really????

I don't think I know any men husbands or relatives friends that have never been away from home for one night.
My husbands pretty much a homebody but he goes.

No trips to AC for Robert?
No bachelor parties?
No sporting events?
No fishing trips?

Guess not!

Did they owe the IRS possibly?

Could be why they didn't get the car back also.

BBM - I'm curious, what do you mean by wrong picture? Of him or of the car?

Not the car! His car was there they need to asking who was seen near or driving this car...

Obviously he wasn't there.

You stated that maybe they are showing the wrong pic. I was asking what you meant by that.

I understand we are all frustrated but I really dont think anyone wants this board shut down because of how people are talking to each other...JMO. we may have difference in opinion but no reason To fight amongst each other. This is not going to solve anything...
