I understand we are all frustrated but I really dont think anyone wants this board shut down because of how people are talking to each other...JMO. we may have difference in opinion but no reason To fight amongst each other. This is not going to solve anything...

I agree, we have had 6 hours of great brainstorming and much respect of each others opinions. Let's not let a poster interfere with the true nature of what this site is about. We don't have to respond to negativity. I have decided to no longer respond to negativity myself. Let's keep up the good work guys!!!!!

It has been over 9 weeks that he has been missing. Precious little information has been released. So many people willing to help but without the details, they are unable to. I am afraid people will lose interest and the momentum of finding him will be lost.

In my opinion, I think the family should release an update even if it is just to say, we dont have an information. Better yet, would be to release a few facts and keep his name and face in the news.

Having known lots of family and friends in the trades, going out for drinks on a Friday is really common practice. Since RMs last "known" location was Arrow, I would really love to know if anyone has questioned patrons at the Cherry Bombz place a few buildings away. I have purposely driven past there around 2-2:30 and the parking lot is packed. Perhaps not the kind of place one would want to admit their spouse went to though.

Did you leave a flyer?

Here goes my final speculation...

IM and RM colluded to make it seem like he met with foul play. The concert, the airline tickets, and Father's Day all served to divert attention from this being the case, posited as reasons why this would not be the case.

The call at 9:00 was long because it was to be the last call for a while. The 2:50 sighting of the car was either IM driving it to the station, "for it to be found later" or was a last minute rendezvous to exchange something.

The trunk was emptied because that seemed like something which could be investigated.

Why would they do this? To claim insurance money eventually and to hold off creditors.

This explains alot of behaviors. It explains why RM's family, neighbors and his co-workers have not gone public. It explains misinformation and the FB page.

It begs the question, however, "Why would you do this to your children?" But people do worse to their children all the time, sadly.

Rob come home before a crime has been committed. Rob make it right for your children

He would have to be declared dead for the family to get the insurance money, which means it would take over 7 years for them to see any money. This scheme seems unlikely to me. JMO

You can petition the court with sufficient evidence to obtain a death certificate before the 7 year time period. If one is issued you can collect death benefits. We are not aware of sufficient evidence at this point. Could it exist at some point? Who knows?

I wonder if the subject or family has a boat, trailer in a seasonal campground or hunting cabin?

I wish I knew the answer, but this thought has crossed my mind. He could anchor in a harbor for months in this part of the country. It wouldn't cost him a cent, except for sewage pump-out, food, and his favorite beverages, especially if he had a decent sized sailboat (low fuel costs). I've never had any LE authority check the registration on my boat, so he could have bought a boat and never registered it. Meaning, no paper trail. He could easily be hanging out on Block Island or the Montauk areas.

Just some thoughts . . no facts . .

One scenario that gets much less consideration is suicide. Most of us consider foul play at the scrap yard, foul play from the scrap yard between being there and 1:45ish when his phone last pinged, to a lesser extent foul play at the garage at 2:45, or he took off, either alone or with someone. The suicide angle is starting to grow on me. I have two examples of suicides that have occurred in my life. The first was a co-worker. He had a TON of money, beautiful wife, beautiful home and two children. He also had a very bad alcohol problem. He drank mornings, hid bottles in places he knew he could access easily. It was very bad. He always said if he ever felt that he'd never be able to beat his addiction that he'd kill himself. One day he jumped in front of a train and did just that. Another example was a buddy of mine who was having marital problems. Friends of his, including me, did not know the extent of the problems. Turns out, after the fact we found out his wife was in another relationship and was planning on leaving. My buddy asphyxiated himself in the garage so that she'd find him. This was SO OUT OF THE BLUE for any outsider. Shocking.

So, we never exactly know what demons people are fighting. Could RM have had a problem that he couldn't deal with? Could he, just like my co-worker, have told IM of his problem and mentioned if he felt he couldn't beat it he'd kill himself? IM's comment "I FEEL the Edgewood Preserve is the place to look" resonates with me. Did he ever tell her he'd go there to harm himself? The preserve is very nearby the train station. Put the bike in the car, park at the station, ride the bike to the preserve. Move seat up to get it out. Leave the ID at home. Perhaps, in his head he was trying to spare the kids by being unidentifiable. If he went deep and far enough into the preserve, it could be a very long time to be found, if ever. I know there wasn't a scent at the station. Maybe if he got right on the bike it would be hard to get.

Anyway, with the lack of any new information, this is the latest scenario rolling around my head.

Clemenza, let me add my condolences for your loss.

As much as I hope it is not true, your scenario is simple, straightforward, and appeals to my Occam's-razor-lovin' heart.

....really????

Really--------where is his family--siblings---where are his friends, the Union, his employer, members of their church etc,. People who one would expect to be involved seem to be absenting themselves.

R's friends and co-workers may be helping IM out and being present for the family. The media has been only mildly interested in this story, so no reason to think they would take an interest in hearing from friends, IMO.

We have no idea that they are absenting themselves. Just because they're not posting on the FB page doesn't mean they aren't searching and supporting IM and the family. They may very well be involved, IMO.

wasn't thinking of FB rather being vocally out in the community---its all so silent---was in NYC and I take the Ronk. line---no flyers except for Deer Park Sta.--why not to Penn or further East ??

Let me pose this....anytime I have seen the family of a missing person on TV, there are usually several family members and/or friends, all sorrounding the main family member who is being interviewed. Often you see hands on the person's shoulder if he/she breaks down on camera, or someone just rubbing their back for support while they are speaking. But there is usually a group, a support system of those close to the missing person. I have not seen that here. With the recent interview on ABC (I think it was ABC), IM faced the camera alone. I don't think its strange to wonder why, and to wonder where her support system is.

This was a great opportunity to show the media a lot more, to engage the audience. But that opportunity was not utilized to its fullest. My opinion of course.

To be honest, I wouldn't get out of my car in this area. Let alone walk into a "gentlemans club".

Thank you Curious--- that is what I was driving at and not expressing properly---there is always a large group of people--clergyman, parents, cousins, neighbors, siblings, friends, children etc and they are talking---about the missing, and providing any little detail about the person--that they would chat you up at TGIFridays, warn you about the cawfee that day at 7-11---anything to make the missing "come alive" to the public and make them noticeable.

But 5 to 7 yrs is not all that long to wait and start life over esp if he is not dead.

If I'm not mistaken, I believe I saw here she was in real estate, and there was a mention of violin lessons, though don't know if that was meant tongue in cheek or not.

If I was a 6' tall man I don't think I would be so scared of the area, but yes, it is very desolate, many deserted buildings, overgrowth, the recycling plant is nearby and the landfill is about a block over. If anyone knows if it is possible to post pictures here, I would be happy to go out tomorrow and take some for everyone.
