The info we received is that his scent wasn't found OUTSIDE of the car. There has been no mention of dogs other than this that I remember, no trip to the house has been documented.

oops
meant to say leading away FROM the car on the outside.

You can bet your bottom dollar that cadaver dogs were brought to the house - as well as the car park train station. I think police are totally on top of this one more than any of us can even imagine.

So HITCHCOCK

Trackergd-- I am going to defer to your expertise--as regards scents can they be muddled or confused?? With rubbing alcohol, turpentine, lime?? ANd second question--how long could a scent remain "intact" in an enclosed area like THE CAR??

For correct context, I was not referring to a scent at the train station parking lot, rather to a comment about the trail from home to the train station someone had mentioned.

Yes, scent can be masked. I used fox urine on my trail during training when I wanted to throw the bloodhounds off and make the air scent dogs work harder. Darn...I just gave away another tracking secret...

And with regard to chemicals...household bleach.

In a car or in an enclosed space and not diluted or masked, a scent can remain for quite a while.

Is it possible that someone else came home and put those items in the garage, then drove the red car, which was partially seen on video?
IMOO.

But then we are back to the issue of who could be driving the car other than RM who would not arouse suspicion if a neighbor, family or friend happened by?

When he borrowed a friends car on the occasions he had to park at the rail station, did he swap cars with that individual? If so, it that person shorter than he is?

Edited to add: What perp would bother putting $300.00 in a drawer...they would put it int their pocket.

Okay doing small posts again because those seem to go thru...
1) am I the only one that finds the phone and the money in DIFFERENT drawers crucial info?
2) Did RM have a briefcase (or something like it) like all the foremen I know? If so, did he leave it in the car like my friends do? Again, if so, was it ever found?

3) we dont know if wallet was left in am or pm as it wasnt found until 4pm...which brings me back to number one... WHY WOULD HE LEAVE THEM ALL IN SEPERATE PLACES????? Could the money have been thrown in drawer from a couple of trips to scrap??? iIRC, if he left wallet in am he had no id and therefore couldnt have gotten more than 50 that day.

IIRC...IM did not discover wallet in the garage until 4PM when RM had not made it home yet. Therefore, unless it was discussed during IM/RM phone conversation that morning...we don't know if he forgot his wallet that morning. As for the items being left in different locations...yes, seems a bit odd to me. I could understand putting the monies in the toolbox or something...but, turning off the phone & putting it in a separate drawer doesn't make sense. UNLESS, (IMO) you are intentionally hiding the phone as to not be discovered with ease (ie...in older tool box drawer under a bunch of tools, etc.)

As for the only being able to see a portion of the car in the neighbor's security video...IIRC, NCNY said it was a road view...and he was fairly certain that it was RM's car. Which would make sense as to why they cannot verify who was driving or if there were more than one party in the vehicle. They see IM's vehicle pulling in approx. 10 min. later...she is able to confirm that this was her.

all I can say without more info at this point is, I still believe someone else was involved. On the fence as to whether RM was a willing participant but until I knew for sure, I would have my kids stay with family, friends, anywhere but that house!

With the newly released info and the previously understood info that he only had the work phone, he absolutely had to have come home to leave it there. It is unreasonable that someone would risk being seen to plant it. It points to him leaving voluntarily to me although I felt that before.

In total agreement. He would not risk sending someone else there maybe even knowing his neighbors had sec cam. And turning the phone off leaving the money he was def saying goodbye

Rob leaving the phone possibly indicates he does not want it to be possible for him to be tracked. Turning it off will prevent it from ringing in the garage as I'm sure it was called many times that evening by people/Ida looking for him. I think it was usual for Rob to leave items in the garage as once he was not home on time, someone discovered the items rather quickly. Curiously, he leaves the phone in another drawer. I don't know that that means anything. More curiously, why weren't other drawers searched?

Many times throughout these threads people have speculated as to whether or not Ida reacted rashly by calling brother in law and/or friend in LE. I believe those calls were made around 6-ish if I recall correctly. She then officially reported him missing at 1am. An even more rash action was looking for and discovering the wallet at 4pm. At that point, how late was he? An hour? To me, this might indicate something was amiss. Did he threaten to leave? It appears she feels something is wrong RIGHT AWAY. So, something is going on either between them or she knows he's in some kind of trouble and needs to leave. But, her antenna is up that something is wrong very very quickly.

IMO that is not a definite. I would need more info as to my previous questions to say one way or the other...

Ok, so I hate to be the party pooper here, but this new release of information concerns me.

Why release it now? Because LE said so? But why? What changed? Something must have happened for LE to say its ok to talk! They just didnt wake up this morning and decide that is was ok for it to be released out of nowhere.

The public has been lied to before, what makes up believe this is all true? Again, it is coming from FB Admins, NOT LE. So they may not be 100% accurate, and perhaps by no fault of their own. :trainwreck:

As it has been from the beginning... "believe half of what you read"... Once the truth comes out, I think people might be a bit shocked on what they hear. :twocents:
IMO they released it for the reporter from VA

IMO they released it because the public was getting way too antsy for answers and starting to get very vocal about it too.

Let me say that I believe RM left the money, but IMO the phone was left by someone else in order for THEY not be tracked......

A perp would not leave it in the house. Much safer to toss it into a river, sewer, dumpster etc.

When they were told about sec cam the police came and searched the garage thus finding money and phone and that it had been turned off

But, in my opinion, that phone had to be discovered, so if it were thrown into a river, sewer, dumpster, etc, it might not have been found.
And as it was, it was found in the garage. And also in the garage was the money and the wallet.
So whoever put the phone there, whether it was RM or someone else, they wanted it to be discovered. Once you find One thing in that garage, you keep looking, then you find something else and you keep looking, so those items were Meant to be discovered.
MOO.
