I want to clear something up as I've seen it referenced a couple of times.

On the FAQ sheet on FB, which I can no longer see, it states the garage was searched after the neighbor's surveillance footage was revealed. It does not say LE conducted the search. Can someone confirm this for me?

A few people have said LE conducted the search, but I don't think they did, at least it's not worded that way. Again, vague.

I am sure the garage was searched by IM and possibly family. Lets keep in mind that her family members were the first to find the car. I will bet when they called her, she ran over there with the spare keys as anyone would. Lord knows what they took or moved or contaminated (unintentionally) before LE could process it. :doh:

The best place would be one of those "we buy gold"-type stores. Scrap yards use heavy duty scales to weigh scrap metal. I wonder what exactly the receipt states,though.

Arrow's website says they accept precious metals. No one's probably bringing that stuff in quantities that require an industrial scale, so I'm guessing they'll take small items too.

So if a person sells a ring for scrap, it will be Melted Down most of the time.
20 years ago, gold definitely was WAY less per troy ounce than now, but depending on Who made the ring, and what the jeweler wanted to sell it for, that ring could have been very costly, regardless of the karat....
IMOO.

I think LE really believes that no crime has been committed or they would have processed his car by now. Sure, they may have a lot of vehicles and evidence backed-up but very unlikely that much of it has to do with a missing man. If they thought he was a crime victim, I think they could/would speed things up, since it would be the main piece of evidence. And they would announce they were investigating a possible homicide, IMO.

Whatever they have learned, either from IM or other sources, must be telling them that he likely left on his own or is a possible suicide victim. JMO

Good to know. But I'm thinking about symbolic meaning. This may be way off base, but picture this: two people have a fight. One sells/pawns/tosses a sentimental gift, and as a way of saying "get lost" or "goodbye" to the other person, gives back the dollar amount that the sentimental item originally cost. RM seems like a simple gold band kind of guy, especially since he works daily with his hands. Young couples often share fond memories of what certain meaningful items cost them early in their relationship.

It just struck me as something a hurt or angry person might do: "Here, you can have your money back."

Still ONE source for information. Information (dates, times, etc) keep changing. I'm not trusting even MSM articles/reports because they have only interviewed ONE source.

In my experience, when LE seriously thinks a missing person is endangered, they do a presser....or several pressers. We've got nothing from LE except that they have no evidence that a crime was committed.

Leaving the band itself would have been 2000x more crushing, hurtful, and symbolic if he was trying to hurt her. And then he would have to leave a note explaining to her the meaning of the cash. Unless, while "arguing" :bigfight: at 9am on the phone, he asked her how much she paid for it, and $300 came up. But it had to cost more than $300, even if it was 18 yrs ago, no?

Well as someone recently pointed out to me...we're getting all our information from ONE source!!! So who knows what to believe. I think WS is getting close to the truth though....people are posting messages to unknown people about doing the RIGHT THING!

For some reason I feel Ida handled the finances.
What if he charged or bought something (that was $300.) and she said something about it.
So he goes and sells the scrap and leaves the money then leaves himself.
Like im done I had enuff!
