Makes sense, but they should tell his mom. Supposedly, she was a wreck when he didn't acknowledge her birthday.

Are we sure RM didn't contact his mom on her birthday?? Again all info is coming from one place.

I don't think there is anything to write about!

Yes, I get that, but from a purely human interest angle, this is something they have always done before. Again, why report on last year's GR disappearance then?

You can't take a battery out of an iPhone 4s.

However I've wondered if you put the phone into airplane mode if that would stop it from pinging towers?

Since it was a company phone it's quite possible that he regularly shut it off or put it in airplane mode to keep his company from knowing his business. But... We've been told that he's not technically savvy so this I have trouble with.

well if it's true he's not tech savvy...why have an Iphone ...unless it's just what the company ordered for it's fm

Disappearing People
People have been disappearing in the U.S. for many years, a lot of people. They just vanish never to be seen again. One day they leave home to go to work, or maybe the store and that is the last time they are ever seen. What could be the reasons for this happening? Actually there are quite a few reasons for something like this happening. A person could get into an accident and die without identification on him, or burn up along with his id. He could be the victim of a crime and get murdered and have his wallet taken with his id in it. He could want to leave home and simply depart never to be seen again.

She had to report him missing! Ok...
she was having family over....he would have had to report to work Monday
kids woulds ask where is dad.
Ida is playing the part very well she is doing what she has to do as the wife of a missing husband. If she dosent they will know she knows where he is.

Ya know I was sooo certain he took off tooo but what nags at me is why leave his wallet and that money that just makes no sense to me.

there is something wrong for him to leave and leave his kids for this long a time..... Even if he hated her... after a week or so id think he would have called SOMEONE.
We have not heard from him because he is Hiding from BAd guys or he is DEAD! JMO

But when it comes down to it....we haven't seen the wallet, DL, IPhone or the cash....just have the info that it was found there is all kinds of info and then conflicting info then another piece is added that they have been holding onto for God knows why

and to tell ya the truth it doesn't wash....it's all verbal....we haven't seen the sec cam from Arrow or anything else that's supposed to be evidence he's in danger...so until I SEE some evidence imma have my doubts about it all. What I think you're seeing is someone who was furious at their spouse and had just had enough and took off maybe out of the country....we don't know that his family doesn't know....his sister isn't doing anymore interviews just IM

Because of who he is?? Just a thought!

If RM and IM both had iPhones, text messages would go through iMessage and therefore NOT show up on a list of texts when phone records are checked. iMessages use data, just like opening Safari or Facebook from the phone. Same thing as BBM on a Blackberry.

I think there are other phones!
Throw aways!

His sister went on one search and I think she went there to talk to Ida in person face to face!

In front of all the searchers and SAR? You think she would choose that forum
To discuss her brother's disappearance?

Thank you. This is very good information and apparently I missed this subtle hint.

I don't think it's heroin, though. I do know of people who are hooked on heroin. They are the children of people I know. These kids do not hold jobs and their lives are a complete mess. From afar, RM does not look like a heroin addict to me.

JMO.
First let me say I don't believe this was something RM was into. However, heroin knows no age, financial, geographical, or societal boundaries. It effects those in RM's age group. Someone earlier explained the link between pain leading to pain killers leading to an addiction leading to heroin because its cheaper + easier to obtain + satisfies the "need" while killing the pain. Not all heroin or pain killer addicts are obvious about it. I think of "functioning alcoholic", its possible to be a functioning addict of other substances as well. Back in the early 80s when cocaine was a drug of choice there were many people of wealth + success 'blowing' thousands a week or using it to get through the daily grind. Many of them hid it very well, held down good jobs, were successful etc with nobody the wiser, sometimes not even those closest to them such as a spouse. JMO

I haven't had time to get caught up, but I wanted to throw something out there, before I forget it.

what if this is all staged? maybe there was a fight the night before, maybe it continued inthe morning. RM could very well have forgotten his wallet in the am, and IM said "ill put it in X drawer". other than that conversation was just fighting and when RM hung up on IM she got pissed. she could have spent the next few hours sending awful texts to him. he goes home, grabs some items and heads out to the train cuz he just wants to get away.

maybe he leaves his phone in the car, because another minute of bickering is more than he wishes to endure... but IM finds the car before police. she grabs the phone, deletes the messages and plans to say she found the phone after car is returned from police... but they take forever to return it. hearing RM has returned to the house gives her a second chance so she hides the phone in a second drawer. now the phone says there's no activity all day. and being the lawyer she was, she knows a court order will be needed to argue that, and with no crime no one is getting that. so instead of handeling a private matter privately, she is now able to use the resources of thousands to "hunt" him down.

Amen! I agree. Great sleuthing point about the phone....

True, but...RM does not look like a man who would up n leave, a man who would be involved in crime, a man who would just disappear...
I suppose we are not all what we seem to be.

:truce:

My husband was home every night went to work every day went to church with me every Sunday.....was in adultery for 3 years before I found out....so yeah he could have had a gf

Heroin is not cocaine. I too saw many functioning cokeheads in the 80s. A functuoning heroin addict is quite different. They are barely functioning.

JMO based on the few that I know of.

Well thank you for that information. I have a cell phone. Until today I had never even heard of "airplane mode". Figured it was for one of them fancy cells you can't take the battery out of. Turns out I have it too even on my old definitely not fancy model. Now you tell me texts don't show on phone records to boot! I would never have thought such a thing. :sigh:

I understand what you are saying. To me those are not the functioning addicts but the ones who already lost the battle. Imagine there are others not letting it all hang out like the few you know of. Not trying to argue the point as I truly think this had nothing to do with RM. However I don't think its out of the realm of possibility either was my point. :truce:

I've been wondering from the beginning why IM wouldn't have hired a PI (AFAWK)...is there any reason anyone knows of (other than the cost) why she shouldn't, assuming she wants to find him??
One other thought nagging at me is if RM wanted to just escape, which is kind of where I see it going, why come home for 9-10min before IM arrives home? Isn't that cutting it close? Was it really THAT important to go to the scrap yard first if he was planning to leave? Had he hit traffic or something, he & IM would have run into each other in the garage, as the story is told. None of this adds up, and maybe never will...:banghead:

My two cents about the comment that started the heroin conversation, I took the comment to mean how financially strapped most Long Islanders are what with very high property taxes, price of heating oil, etc, etc. last year when I owned a house I was only putting $200 of heating oil in the tank at a time. I couldn't afford more than that at a time. Just an example of course,
