I can't think of rehab as being like witness protection, in that you are expected to drop out of your family life altogether. That does not sound right. Usually they want to meet your support system, have a plan in place for afterward, etc.

I guess one could do it that way...but why? Why make your family, kids, mom and all, think you are missing, maybe even dead?

I have spent some time reviewing previous threads, mostly the ones that included a verified insider. I read and re-read the comments on the threads. Again, i believe what the insider did was give us clues as to what the possibilities are. The fact that several of the insider's posts have, now...weeks later, come to be factual gives me reason to believe there is something to what was stated.
I go back to the mention of the "problem affecting many adults especially on long island" because i find it troubling and interesting that he chose to mention that and i cant imagine that he would reveal that info if he did not truly believe it was related to the disappearance.
JMOO

He also "thanked" post #825 in that thread....the mention of drugs.

I said yesterday how strict HIPAA laws are. If the union forced him to enter program or lose his job...they cannot release any info to anyone. It is against the law. The only one that can is RM. ive heard of people just entering programs and handling things a certain way.
Also...since everyone is silent..im not sure that family/friends dont know what happened.

I believe our insider gave use some clues. BBM
This particular quote has been nagging at me:

"there was at one point early on that we thought of someone Rob associated with as he lied about being in touch with him when asked by IM only to find out they were in touch through texts... it got all messed up with where the phone was just like the media got mixed up and posted rob was working in the city... the media for this case is horrible, and i truly believe that had it been a woman/mother missing it would get a lot more attention... also, our family, more than most didnt know how to handle the release of information especially since we didnt know what happened... there was no ransom, no nothing no idea what happened so Ida didnt wanna just start bringing up personal matters unless they were tied directly to the case... i mean in all honesty if my son/daughter went missing ans he was in college, would i alert the press that he was known to smoke weed? No i wouldnt... if i had found out that he was selling weed on campus and was tied with big drug dealers and felt it was related then yes i would tell the public..."

Maybe this had been an ongoing issue with the family? Maybe he has made all kinds of promises to get clean but couldnt keep them? Maybe he was on his last leg with IM and the family.....maybe he was too shamed to face her and the kids for fear of disappointing them again.

So he leaves his personal belongings not to be identified by the rehab facility. And from what I understand, they are obligated to respect his decision to remain anonymous.

And I agree with MOM here, about leaving the $300 he got from the scrap yard, (which perhaps he usually used to support his bad habit), as a symbol, along with a possible receipt showing he was at the scrap yard....kind of like showing IM that he is turning himself around, he didnt blow the money to support his habit this time......he is serious about rehab...etc...etc...

I like where this is going.

As we have said many times, the silence speaks volumes. Its a shame they must torture the families, but they wont break the law.

They obviously felt they needed to withhold information but coming up with an ironclad story that doesn't have any inconsistencies is tough when too many people know the truth.

They claimed that they didn't have the phone even though friends/family were posting that she had it. They claimed that he never made it home even though they had the security camera to show that. (NCNY had posted that <modsnip>)

IIRC, you posted it first. Thanks for your input. :seeya:

Well three months seems like a long time for an in-patient drug rehab...unless you are a celebrity anyway. JMO

Quoting: "She even laughs, briefly, on the phone with me, as we bond over those typical husband/wife phone calls, where we blab our heads off about this or that errand that needs doing, while our husbands say “yeah, okay” once every few minutes or so."

I might be wrong though.

The way I am reading this is:
The person who is interviewing Ida is saying 'they' are bonding on the phone, meaning her and Ida. She says "She even laughs, briefly, on the phone with me......that's her and Ida bonding and talking about how they both speak to their husbands just in general.

I'm not seeing that Ida is asking Robert to do some errands.
IMO

Maybe he did his time and wanted to re-locate to a different, healthier environment? New job, new location? Boston?

That's what I was thinking afte all who would know better than a lawyer?

I am starting to think this way as well.
BTW, I have read references to a text that RM reportedly received that IM was upset about??? Does anyone know where this info first appeared - I never recall reading that????

It was the (supposedly) early search of Pilgrim Facility.
I always wondered why they searched there. According to reports (?) they searched with dogs? Were they checking to see if Rob was there? IDK.

Codger asked on the previous thread:
I went looking for any information on whether iMessage messages are stored on Apple's servers, and found the following information. Very interesting.
(Read the full article here: http://venturebeat.com/2013/06/17/a...nfirms-facetime-imessage-chats-are-encrypted/)
I take this to mean that even if iMessage messages are stored--and as data, I really don't think that they are--they're encrypted, so the point would be moot. You would need access to one of the devices* privy to the conversation and hope that the thread in question had not been deleted.
* - yes, including desktop or laptop Macs :)

Thanks wasn't enough here. Thank you for digging + posting a link. Most of this tech talk is gibberish to me but I try my best to evolve + follow along. :blushing:
Again thanks so much to you + others for patience + explaining things along the way of confusing details here.

If, in fact, he had some sort of substance abuse problem...maybe a random drug test at work was dirty. The union is proactive and protective when it comes to substance abuse. Maybe he agreed to enter treatment. Went home. Tied up loose ends. Left his personal items and left. Met someone at specified location to be taken to rehab.
Just my thoughts...
I almost wish this were true. How many folks entering rehab have come out in the public as a missing person case though?

With what we held to be "facts" to now be called into question as being opinions or speculation, I am back to square one. Sometimes in discussion, these things take on a life of their own, and what was speculation on page one becomes fact by page 6. Too easy to misconstrue or misunderstand.

To me, the lack of information from LE is very telling. I doubt they would be keeping a missing person case active, open and expending resources if they knew where RM was or had confirmation he had willfully left the area. I suspect they would quietly close the case and at most, report the case was no longer active.

Too many of the "facts" are conflicting, don't make sense or just don't add up and have us chasing our tails.

Time to sit back, look at the very little we do know and do a bit of pondering...

The preserve is tugging at the back of my mind. Way too late for all but cadaver and perhaps air scent dogs. This is one of the times a grid search would be appropriate.
BBM - I always appreciate your posts Tracker. I have much more faith in canines than humans. Immediately I got the gut feeling this was a suicide + then felt horribly for his family, all of them. As I followed along I thought there was a good possibility that it could also be foul play. I now :fence: between the two. For whatever unknown reason wasn't the preserve where IM wanted searched? IIRC

How well do you know your neighbors?

I personally know 1 or 2 or 3 that I could count on. Hurricane Sandy comes to mind. The other few............ not so well.

I would know in a minute who to call. Who are Rob's neighbors that we can trust?

Why would LE be keeping his car, if he is in rehab? Or we to assume they don't know either? I thought LE had some kind of thing with hospitals, etc. to check for missing people. And his wife does not know either? I am confused...I know it is just a theory but one I can't quite grasp, going on three months now.
