"He was a member of Local Union 3 (the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) for almost 25 years. He's got a benefits and a pension. You don't work your whole life for these things and then walk away from them."

For the record, i agree. I dont think he just walked away. I think he had a
Problem with something or someone.
I dont believe for a minute that he just left because he wanted a new life.

But he is gone. This statement sounds to me like IM did not think he committed suicide, in my opinion. So why is he listed as Endangered Missing on one site and Missing (not endangered missing) on NamUs. I can only hypothesize with a conglomeration of statements with IM stating that he would never leave on his own, that perhaps someone was after him, or made him disappear, OR he left with someone. This is ONLY a thought process of mine, and does not equate to the TRUTH, but an opinion of what I think that IM is stating.

In My Opinion Only.

Disappearing without the sleep apnea machine is a huge strike against leaving voluntarily. Sleep apnea often has a greater impact on overweight people, which Rob is not. It is also compounded by excessive drinking. I'm a very heavy snorer and I've been known to have a cocktail or two. ;). My dad has the machine. He lives with me. I can tell when he uses the machine and when he doesnt. IMO Rob would not leave it behind.

  • #544
he could leave that sleep apnea machine behind - perhaps there was another somewhere, or he could easily get another. Or maybe he doesn't use it all the time. I have a friend who has sleep apnea (and he is a self-identified "fat guy") and he does not use his machine every night.

Maybe that was an older machine that he didn't even use much any longer. Shrug.

ETA: is it odd that we are just now hearing about it though. What benefit is there for anyone to mention it now? hmmmm...

So just to clarify....you believe the phone was gone through first and that's how they found person who IM didn't want RM talking to???? Then IM confronted them about texting RM???

How does anyone know that IM did not want RM talking to this person?
You asked me that in the other post, and I quoted your question, but I did not say anything about IM not wanting RM to talk to this person.

Again, let me bring up the post from NCNY.....

"All the information regarding calls and texts were combed through and all leads go nowhere with the phone... there was at one point early on that we thought of someone Rob associated with as he lied about being in touch with him when asked by IM only to find out they were in touch through texts."

So unless there is OTHER information that I am not aware of that NCNY posted about IM not wanting RM talking to this person, I don't understand how the conclusion came about that IM didn't want RM talking to this person.

BBM How can you tell? What happens?

I realize this question was not at all directed to me, but from what I know, if my friend does not use his machine, I can hear him snoring and just overall breathing weirdly. Lots of snorting sounds, lots of sounds of breath coming in very choppy-sounding, very loud and yucky sounding, like I want to tell him to wake up and cough.

When he uses the machine, I hear, like, nothing.

The benefit to hearing about it now is CRUMBS........
JUST ENOUGH CRUMBS TO KEEP THE STORY GOING............
Remember not too long ago on the thread it was contemplated what the NEXT crumbs were going to be.... well, we got a few morsels.....

Why else would he lie about it???

and here we are, gobbling up these crumbs. I hope all this leads somewhere soon and Robert is found safe. And if not, well then, back to sweeping crumbs and hoping for some semblance of a whole slice.

From NCNY:
"All the information regarding calls and texts were combed through and all leads go nowhere with the phone... there was at one point early on that we thought of someone Rob associated with as he lied about being in touch with him when asked by IM only to find out they were in touch through texts..."

IMO when NCNY refers to "we thought of someone Rob associated with......
I see it like "we" NCNY and Ida Mayer
They thought of someone RM associated with as he lied (RM lied??) about being in touch with him when asked by IM only to find out ( possibly by police requesting phone records )
they were in touch through texts......

All my opinion.

MOO is that RM didn't tell the truth about being in touch with this person when asked by or discussed with IM previously, and that, with information given and syntax used, it cannot be determined if the other person was male or female...and that, by going through the phone or phone records, it was discovered RM HAD actually been in touch via text messages.

I know...just a few crumbs, here and there.
Wonder what the next crumbs will tell us? It seems like these things are significant ...sleep apnea, and having really nervous energy. Why weren't those stated in the beginning?
I feel like this is a story with an interesting beginning, and waxing and waning at times, just enough to keep the interest going......
I feel like we are being treated like Pavlog's Dogs.....

Machine or no machine, it is not like he was going to die or stop breathing without it.

Uh actually I would suggest doing some research on it .... yes you can very well die without it depending on how severe the apnea is. Do you even know what it is??? I have it! You stop breathing in your sleep and the machine keeps you breathing until or if your brain tells your body to start breathing again! IMO THIS IS WHY HE WAS LISTED AS ENDANGERED :scared: no....terrified! I can not even tell you how scary it is waking up gasping for air feeling like someone literally tried to smother you to death...sometimes, you dont wake up.

From today's huff post article:

"He has sleep apnea and even his breathing machine is still up by the bed."

Isnt that a medical condition? I think so.

Robert Mayer's Wife Say's Missing Husband's Face 'Haunts Me'
Huffington Post-1 hour ago
A distraught wife is asking for help tracking down her husband, who has been missing for about three months. Ida Mayer of Dix Hills, NY, says ...

Yes, it is. And common. While sleeping, the upper airway relaxes (think back of throat) and occludes passing of oxygen, and the person continuously is partially awakened, therefore getting inadequate sleep....causes pausing in breathing and loud snoring, usually. The CPAP is a machine that fits tightly over the mouth and nose and "pushes" air in with pressure while the person sleeps.

  • #558
No. He would not die without it...
It was, however, a detail that was brought up several times and i believe in the FAQ, correct? I believe IM stated that RM had no medical issues other than headaches.

If i slept in a bed with a man who uses an apnea machine...that would not be something
I would overlook when asked about his medical conditions.

Thank you.
I know it is. My brother in law has it...and his hannibal cpap mask.
