I know for my BIL and sister the sleep apnea is a huge issue.
It took my BIL years, a heart condition and my sister moving to another room...to
Finally go to a sleep clinic for a study.
My sister considers this a medical condition.

Developing a heart condition is actually fairly common amongst people with sleep apnea especially if they went most of their life without knowing they had it and/or did not follow dr instructions. I went most of my life not knowing as I did not have a tendency to snore. My heart condition was diagnosed shortly after :( and my apnea is not even nearly as severe as Cat's. Nor did I have any other influencing factors at the time.

The only reason I even found out was because I had always been a rather calm and level headed person and yet the older I got, the more and more I started feeling anxiety in the morning. It got so bad I thought I was having panic attacks. (There was nothing going on in my life at the time that would bring on such a thing...it was really rather frustrating.)

Been thinking all day about that new tribute video posted today. Trying to figure out the purpose of creating and posting that video. If my loved one was missing and I was convinced she didn't leave willingly, I don't believe I'd spend time putting a tribute video together to share with the world. I know everyone deals with stress and loss differently.

To me, that video is an indication that IM believes he's out there somewhere and she's hoping that he see's it and his reminded of his life and family. Just my humble opinion of course. Thx J

I apologize if I came across harsh. IMO some people have a tendency to blow off things they dont understand medically before doing any research or only the cursory amount. I tend to be passionate about being informed as I have seen too many people lose their life or become even worse off because they do not follow dr advice or their significant others do not support and encourage compliance because they have not thought it important enough to follow through and research it. :twocents:

I LOVE YOU!!! If we all thought that way, we'd be a much healthier population! :seeya::rockon:

Overall, to me, the early reporting, or not early reporting, I should say, of RM's OSA by IM, does not raise a suspicion to me. We don't know the severity of his OSA, if he was compliant in the use of the CPAP, or if the use of it was just a normal part of his nightly routine, so it was overlooked in initial reporting by IM. MOO.

Agreed! IMO especially after 18 years of marriage...although IMO she did report it right away (just not to the public) and this is why he is listed as endangered. :drip: :drip: :drip:

On the new Huffington Post article posted today. Link is posted previously, I believe.

Actually that tribute was made awhile ago. I saw it on utube in the beginning of July end of June I believe.

Yes. I saw it too.
IIRC it was made by one of the FB supporters.
It is on you tube, also.

As bad as mine is without my C-Pap, I can honestly say that I rarely report it as a medical condition if I go to the hospital or a new doctor. I typically remember it down the line...because I feel good with the C-Pap.

Having IM not report it doesn't set off any red flags for me either.

And Phili, thanks for having my back if I go missing! That makes me feel warm and fuzzy!

I am having audio problems, any idea who made the tribute video? Could it have been his son? This is something my kids might do to "help".

No no. It was not a child.
It was a guy on the FB search page.
Cant remember his name.

At 13 seconds on the Youtube video on the tribute to Robert Mayer there's a photo of IM and RM that looks like possibly a casino in the background. Earlier today it was mentioned about casinos and if they went together to a casino...
IMOO.

all from my memory:

-wallet left home, so no id for scrap yard or wallet left in garage in 10 minute stop.

-phone found, phone not found, phone found

-car found in the exact spot he used to park, loves car to much to leave it

-medical condition? headaches or sleep apnea requiring cpap released 3 months later

-video at scrap yard, video not working, looks worried in non-existant video

-last call dropped? I love you at end of call?

-it was just like any other day? Nervous energy in days leading to disappearance.

What else?

Is there any one fact that is not subject to change?

Uh actually I would suggest doing some research on it .... yes you can very well die without it depending on how severe the apnea is. Do you even know what it is??? I have it! You stop breathing in your sleep and the machine keeps you breathing until or if your brain tells your body to start breathing again! IMO THIS IS WHY HE WAS LISTED AS ENDANGERED :scared: no....terrified! I can not even tell you how scary it is waking up gasping for air feeling like someone literally tried to smother you to death...sometimes, you dont wake up.

I always thought it was for people that are heavy snorers and had trouble sleeping. The couple people I know who use never indicated to me that it was life threatening. I guess there are people with different severity? My guess is, for RM it may have not been as severe considering she only brought it up now, three months later.

BBM later said not to be in EXACT spot but in front.

Disappearing without the sleep apnea machine is a huge strike against leaving voluntarily. Sleep apnea often has a greater impact on overweight people, which Rob is not. It is also compounded by excessive drinking. I'm a very heavy snorer and I've been known to have a cocktail or two. ;). My dad has the machine. He lives with me. I can tell when he uses the machine and when he doesnt. IMO Rob would not leave it behind.

My husband had one, never uses it.
Sometimes sleep apnea is associated with layers of skin
around the tonsils/uvula. That's my husband 's issue.
If your taking off, packing up your apnea machine might not be so
easy.
