After readingsome posts about the house, trusts, and RM
working & thinking he must Have a nice pension- I thought- why would he even bother with the
Scrap metal if he knew he was taking off? $ 300- What would that do for
IM?

I always thought it was for people that are heavy snorers and had trouble sleeping. The couple people I know who use never indicated to me that it was life threatening. I guess there are people with different severity? My guess is, for RM it may have not been as severe considering she only brought it up now, three months later.

Yes, varying levels of severity. We don't know his level of severity nor when she reported it...only that we just learned of it. As someone else thought, maybe the reason for "endangered" status.

Been thinking all day about that new tribute video posted today. Trying to figure out the purpose of creating and posting that video. If my loved one was missing and I was convinced she didn't leave willingly, I don't believe I'd spend time putting a tribute video together to share with the world. I know everyone deals with stress and loss differently.

To me, that video is an indication that IM believes he's out there somewhere and she's hoping that he see's it and his reminded of his life and family. Just my humble opinion of course. Thx J

:seeya: I did that video for Ida. I was hoping he would see it and come home.

I also did it because the Hbo guy said when asked when are you going to release your video of the search and he said "of what, people standing around in the parking lot."

True she could have mentioned it before and the reporter opted to leave it out. I do know she has never mentioned it before to supporters.

"The "concrete evidence" that police seek is in the details, according to Mayer's wife.

"I can speculate until the cows come home, but I know he had a really nervous energy about him in the days before he disappeared," she said."

Why was this not brought up early on? Why are we being fed crumbs? This statement leads me to believe that he was hooked on a very addictive drug of some sort. I would not be surprised if he was not strung out somewhere, in a crack house, so messed up that he can not get out and that he left with his drug buddy. You may never find him in a crack house full of junkies. If he has been strung out for the past three months, he may look like a vagrant by now, not even recognizeable. The downward spiral with addicts can be very fast. A young person can look seriously old in a short amount of time. Have you seen what meth does to a person's appearance. Maybe we are not searching in the right places.

I think there are people who use the cpap for apnea to keep them alive. And then there are people who use it to keep their marriage alive. I know both types.

all from my memory:

-wallet left home, so no id for scrap yard or wallet left in garage in 10 minute stop.

-phone found, phone not found, phone found

-car found in the exact spot he used to park, loves car to much to leave it

-medical condition? headaches or sleep apnea requiring cpap released 3 months later

-video at scrap yard, video not working, looks worried in non-existant video

-last call dropped? I love you at end of call?

-it was just like any other day? Nervous energy in days leading to disappearance.

What else?

Is there any one fact that is not subject to change?

AMEN:please:

Trigger - :tyou:
I watched this twice + was humbled in my speculation. In that I truly hope there is a way for RM to come "home". I tend to be, umm cynical, I think is the word of us pessimists. Something about this case, family, Robert, has struck a chord with me + I truly hold out hope there is a way + time for him to be found / come home, safe.

I check in frequently + hope to be converted onto the bandwagon of "he walked off into the sunset of his own free will", for whatever reason. That scenario leaves hope.

I however have this really nasty feeling in the pit of my stomach that is not going to be the answer here. With the latest article posted earlier - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2013/09/12/robert-mayer-missing_n_3915824.html (I'm way behind, catching up...)
a couple things caught my attention -
"In the scrap yard surveillance photo he looks like something is wrong. His looks worried and the look on his face haunts me," Ida Mayer said.
IM made a previous comment about him looking "scared / worried" here. Adding "somethng is wrong + the look on his face haunts me" - Regardless what many may think, there is something here that is triggering his wife of 18 years to take notice - I've been giving myself a brain cramp over - "what"? What is it that had a man of his status + stature, worried or scared or what? Aaaaaand how is the following plausible -
The video does not show the inside of the vehicle, but it does show the car pulling into the Mayer's driveway at about 2:40 p.m. The vehicle leaves approximately 10 minutes later. Mayer’s wife is captured arriving in her vehicle at about 3 p.m.
It shows Rob's car only but not the inside, nor passenger if there was any or who was driving. BUT it shows IM IN HER VEHICLE. Huh? :waitasec:
As always just my uneducated opinion + thinking out loud.

Respectfully, I beg to differ...I see patients all the time who refuse to use the machine, and would gladly never see it again. They complain of claustrophobia, discomfort, and as being too noisy. I would not necessarily believe the CPAP is something RM would be packing first and lugging around...

My dad had sleep apnea and it was bad. Usually, the people living in the same house complain before the individual with the sleep apnea, in my opinion. The snoring is unbelievable. It is loud and irritating. It is amazing my mother could get a good nights sleep. I don't think it bothered my dad so much. Everyone else complained. You could hear him snoring from the other side of the house. He never complained about having an issue or waking and gasping for breath. He never used a machine too.

What are you getting at? It may just mean that she was able to verify that it was her and we can not verify if it was Mr. Mayer or not. That's IF it was her, which I am assuming it was. Elaborate, please. I am fascinated.

Well you know maybe the family, especially IM was a bit overwhelmed EARLY ON. Maybe its not about what we are being told, crumbs or otherwise, but about WHERE IS ROBERT? Nervous energy as observed by someone else = a very addictive drug? Seriously?! Well I can think of several of other causes such as ADD, OCD, PTSD + a whole list of other something something D that come off as "nervous energy". I would also suspect any STRESS, be it from work or home or outside family influence or who knows what, since WE don't KNOW Robert. My gut tells me this comes down to money, not drugs. RM in a crackhouse? I can't even picture it for the life of me, sorry. I mean no disrespect, but there is possible, plausible, and way out there. I've seen a crackhouse resident. IMHO RM couldn't be one even if he tried his very hardest. JMO of course.

Well, his car isn't very tall and hers could be, therefore instead of the roof, etc., the neighbor's cam shows IM.

MOO is that RM didn't tell the truth about being in touch with this person when asked by or discussed with IM previously, and that, with information given and syntax used, it cannot be determined if the other person was male or female...and that, by going through the phone or phone records, it was discovered RM HAD actually been in touch via text messages.

NCNY refers to this texting person as "him" if you read back through the post. I took it to be a man, perhaps a bad influence.

I've been behind. I feel like I always say this. Anyways read a few recent posts and I feel sick to my stomach. THESE things we are now hearing about are and were crucial.

I will sleep on this I feel deflated and sad.
