Well you know maybe the family, especially IM was a bit overwhelmed EARLY ON. Maybe its not about what we are being told, crumbs or otherwise, but about WHERE IS ROBERT? Nervous energy as observed by someone else = a very addictive drug? Seriously?! Well I can think of several of other causes such as ADD, OCD, PTSD + a whole list of other something something D that come off as "nervous energy". I would also suspect any STRESS, be it from work or home or outside family influence or who knows what, since WE don't KNOW Robert. My gut tells me this comes down to money, not drugs. RM in a crackhouse? I can't even picture it for the life of me, sorry. I mean no disrespect, but there is possible, pausible, and way out there. I've seen a crackhouse resident. IMHO RM couldn't be one even if he tried his very hardest. JMO of course.

The verified insider hinted at a drug problem (NCNY). Yes, I am far fetched, but this whole situation is bizarre. He looks very innocent to me, as I have said in the past, but addictions can alter a person and rob them of their identity, family, home, work, etc... IMO this information that is coming in dribs and drabs should have been out there early on to find this poor man. The more time that passes....

The verified poster hinted as something that happens a lot nowadays on Long Island, nothing else. If posters think he was referring to drugs, so be it, but he didn't hint at anything specific.

What are you getting at? It may just mean that she was able to verify that it was her and we can not verify if it was Mr. Mayer or not. That's IF it was her, which I am assuming it was. Elaborate, please. I am fascinated.
My interpretation was she could be seen getting out of her vehicle or driving it. A piece of a red car was seen, assumed to be RM's, but no driver nor passenger could be seen. I'm only getting at - how can you "see" one driver + not another, nor any passengers (if there were any)? Was it a case of different vehicle height? (I have no idea what IM drove). I just don't comprehend how it can be confirmed as IM pulling into their driveway about 3pm, yet it is so vague as to "piece of a red car" assumed to be RM's GTO pulling in at 2:40 + out at 2:50 - with no view as to anyone inside the vehicle.

Has anyone noticed this as well:

In rhe most recent picture posted of him with the 2 children, he looks to be about 20 - 30 pounds lighter than he did in the vacation pictures posted. He just looks bigger like, say 210 and more robust and it was not long ago because the children have not aged much from the vacation pictures to the most recent. He appears to be 190 or even 180 in the nost resent shot. You can see it in his face.

OT...reading a novel right now called "He's Gone" about a man who just up and disappeared without a word...will be interested to see what scenario the author comes up with...I am sure we have probably discussed it here, whatever it is.

I just read that about a month ago! I won't spoil the ending for you, but... I don't think this case is anything similar. ;)

Yes, the height of the car, perhaps or IM's account that it was her. I wish we could examine the scrap yard video where he looks worried and the neighbor's camera videos to verify the automobile sightings. The scrap yard video might refresh someone's memory if they saw him that day. Maybe he was unshaven, dressed a certain way, had his Ray Ban's on, a hat. I wish the public would be more in the loop to jar someones memory, because somebody did see him and if he was with someone, then that will give a whole new avenue of possibilities to go down.

:peace: Cathy, I mean nothing personal here in my rather errrr heated opinionated opinion  I get a bit defensive of the victim who I consider to be RM until we know more facts, may we ever know any facts. There is no ruled-out or unreasonable theory here. This may be drug related (I hope not). I have been known to go WAY out in left field with a theory so I'm not dissing that, ANYTHING is possible as of yet. I read NCNY's postings and took them to be very ambiguous. My first thought of 'the problem/s that hit lots of Long Islander's these days' (my paraphrase) was = $MONEY. I just wanted to say (in too many words) I mean no disrespect or offense. I simply get a bit overly defensive when I sense the victim is being victimized. Overall, RM comes off as a decent, hard working, family guy (to me). JMO of course.

My dad had sleep apnea and it was bad. Usually, the people living in the same house complain before the individual with the sleep apnea, in my opinion. The snoring is unbelievable. It is loud and irritating. It is amazing my mother could get a good nights sleep. I don't think it bothered my dad so much. Everyone else complained. You could hear him snoring from the other side of the house. He never complained about having an issue or waking and gasping for breath. He never used a machine too.

although I dont have the snoring issue (unless really sick and then just mild) I understand how it can rob others of sleep. However, just because it didnt bother him, doesnt not mean it wasnt affecting him--understand? Especially if he was not treated, years shaved off of one's life are unseen..until one dies.......

Also, everyone that snores like a grizzly bear does not have sleep apnea...sometimes it is just a deviated septum.

However, I submit to all who complain about those that snore because of it, is it not better to endure the loud snore without complaints (its not their fault) than to hear nothing but silence.........

While you are so kind and i hate to even go here, as a long islander, i can say that we have several "problems". Money, housing, traffic, unemployment, schools...however, the only problem that has reached epidemic proportions is drugs.

Money has always been a problem here. Long island s a very expensive place to live. Our taxes are sky high. Thats nothing new.

He strikes me as a decent, innocent, good hearted individual from the pictures. He has a kind smile and a nice demeanor. I have only good intentions when I throw these theories out there. I feel that he is alive and that he got caught up in something bad. Yes, maybe NCNY was referring to money problems, but they did not look like they were hurting financially, unless there is, again, iformation we do not have, like was he behind on the mortgage, did he pay a loan shark, were they living above their means? Need more information and I want him to be found and be OK. I am all for the safe return of Mr. Mayer.

To expand further on others comments and theories and give my :twocents: ... just because it is a possible theory that RM got caught up in drugs, does NOT make him a bad person. I think and hope I speak for everyone when I say that even if this is the case, we hope RM is found, alive and safe, because only then can he get the help he might need in order to be the man he once was...his kids need him. Good people make mistakes all the time. It should not define them :jumpingoffsoapbox:

Whatever anyone's take on this case, Robert Mayer's story and face made it onto a major news outlet. I think we can all agree that this is very promising and long overdue.

Rob needs to come home.

That goes without saying, born.
We just want his safe return.
Everything else is secondary and can be worked out.

Yup, could be either or neither. I gotsa ta know! :gavel:
Oh you have no idea how much I would like us all to have a peeksee :hiding: at BOTH of those video clips (no matter how short or grainy or blurry they may be).
Funny you mention the hat - way back it was mentioned he might be wearing a ballcap/hat, BUT I have not seen 1 photo of him with a hat on. Lots of photos with his sunglasses on though.
BBM - Spot on!

I have to say about vacations that it's easy to put on weight, and if one of their vacations was a cruise, well, the food is quite good I hear. Now I don't know if a person would gain 20 to 30 pounds on vacation, but gaining weight is pretty easy to do if you're just chillin' and eating some good food.
IMOO.

Oh, I agree, but what I was getting at is that the person with the issue is usually not aware of it until they get complaints. In a sense, it is a warning sign to get checked out by a doctor.

I have trouble gaining weight after 40. :waitasec:

I think the pics really can't be truly evaluated in a true time frame as we really don't know when they were taken?

I wonder when RM had his finger cut off accidently. Maybe he was prescribed pain killers at that time and eventually became addicted? In his line of work, guys end up with back and/or shoulder pains sometimes too. I know of several highly educated professionals, who became addicted, so it isn't in the realm of impossibility.

On another note, I'm a little suspicious about the individual who lied about contact with RM—or RM lying about contact with the person. Either way, it could be connected to why he is missing. IMO, it seems strange to lie. Why lie about having contact? Seems very secretive.
