I Googled RM and found a forum for his IBEW local and read the posts there. Since it isn't legit news I can't link it. Essence of the thread was a member was surprised to see a brother was MIA and not one post was on the board. He got a little play with comments about salvage copper being a hot issue amongst members. They said that RM was a foreman on the big project he was working on which might explain why he was the one that got to take the salvage to the yard. Some of the guys speculated that sometimes members have just walked away from their lives. Others countered with the fact that he had kids and a pension to think about.
No one who knew him personally posted but those that did post asked for anyone who knew him or knew anything to step up.

I also think the seat was moved up to get something out of the back. Was this car a 2 or 4 door? If a 2 the front seat has to be pulled forward if not moved forward to get things or people out of the back. I'm also still stuck on what happened to his missing bike.
If I were the detectives working the case I would be Googling the web for clues. This forum is a plethora of bright ideas based on a few slim facts. As said detective I would find a way of feeding shareable facts with this brain trust.
Does LE detectives even know that this site exists? If not, would it hurt to advise them that others 'have their back' in an unofficial way?

I think the detectives have talked to a few people in RM's circles and have done some background work to know more than what we have to work with. They are probably holding some things back, until they are clear on what has happened to RM. JMO

I'll bite too....I'm here because I read about the disappearance on aol. I was searching for more info and typed in "What happened to RM?" and up popped WS. I read for along time and you guys had the doors bolted shut :banghead: and I couldn't get signed on!!! Every time I tried to sign on up popped some annoying window with useless info on it so I resorted to emailing the mods. finally I got an account and here I am just as befuddled as the rest of you...

For long time I thought so too...But Id think he would call Law enforcement or someone to let them know he was alive. He knows they are looking for him. He was not in a situation where he could drop quietly off the radar.
Wife, Kids, job......

IM actually thinking that's the one theory we can rule out! JMO

He could be in the house. And I think this mess is so ...ingrained in them right now they arent thinking beyond the reason for doing this.

I'm just thinking about the girl on the girl on the train who said she saw him. It was "on the way" to Massachusetts. Amtrak from New York to Boston goes through Rhode Island, no?

For those not from here, the Long Island railroad goes right into penn station, and Amtrak is also located there.

Can also take Orient Point Ferry (east end on LI) and travel to CT and get Amtrak----he'd be a walk on but still its good to reserve a ticket in advance for both ferry and Amtrak.
Again--if we can giving either sighting any creedence. IMO it was a crumb tossed out <modsnip>. And hey, we got one as well.

I'm still on the fence with this whole thing. One side of me thinks he left his wife. Another side thinks he is running from something or someone (illegal stuff). Yet, another side of me, thinks someone did him in. I can go on and on . .

I here ya McSpy-- have at present 22 possible scenarios---some RM is dead, some he is alive. If it was all done for money, then its sad. If its about money and getting your 15 minutes of fame, its deplorable.

I hope Mom Mayer and Sister are feeling all of our loving thoughts and prayers for them both. Lord knows I am praying for these ladies.

As time passes I have ruled out of my own theories that he ran away...

That leaves He is dead out there somewhere by his own hand (which I doubt) or at the hand of another.

If he was hiding from someone I think his family would be fearful for themselves also which I do not see here...

He also could have vanished for Insurance purposes so his family will get the money.
Been done before!

Another day another theory!
