It isn't sounding like the outcome is going to be good. His body was covered with branches. Appears someone trying to hide the body...IMO...from what I was reading here... I suppose the step son's future will depend on the autopsy results. Very sad case!

Redondo Beach man's death investigated as homicide
REDONDO BEACH, Calif. (KABC) --
The death of a Redondo Beach man who had been reported missing last month and was later found in Western New York is being investigated as a homicide, authorities said.

The announcement was made Wednesday by Sheriff James Voutour of Niagra County.

Stepson of missing California man charged with his murder

29-year-old Gregory Roy has been charged with the murder of his stepfather Rudy Ray Rockett Sr.

“The suspect in this case has not talked to us what so ever so we're really not quite sure of a motive,” said Niagara County Sheriff Jim Voutour.

Voutour says Roy shot his stepfather several times during what was supposed to be a ride to the Buffalo airport on April 29th. Rockett Sr. was headed back to California.

Roy was arraigned in Niagara County Friday afternoon, but wouldn't leave his cell at first so the judge had to issue a drag order.

Trial date set in Roy case

Gregory Roy, who has twice been found to be mentally incompetent to stand trial, is now slated to face a jury in November. State Supreme Court Justice Richard C. Kloch Sr. set jury selection to start on Nov. 8.

Roy will be back in court in late September for a final pre-trial hearing.
