Source Information

Oddly, when looking for Ruth through newspapers, I found that she was compared to a Jane Doe found in Canton, New York, on April 4, 1950. I found no evidence of this woman being identified, and the articles stop in 2002. Does anyone remember this case and if she was identified?

Did she take a suitcase with her? I'd be more inclined to think she left him once and for all if she took her belongings. Otherwise, the husband/boyfriend is always the first to be suspected. Whoever that Jane Doe is, I hope they can identify her with DNA.

Her maiden name was Clookey and she married C J Jock in 1937.

Her ancestry profile links this news article with another photo.

This case has been solved. I reside in the area and my Mother In Law has lived on this Street where she lived before she went missing and still resides. In the early 2000's there was an article from our local Newspaper, " The Malone Telegram" and may have been named "The Malone Evening Telegram' before they renamed our local newspaper. The article came out right after Ruth's Husband Cecil passed away that it was solved. It stated Cecil and Ruths son Mike finally gave up his Dna and confirmed that it was Ruth and that her husband Cecil was responsible for her murder through DNA. It was a very short term after Cecil passed that it was confirmed her and he(Cecil) was responsible however he couldnt be charged because he had just passed. Through out the years there were several rumors on what Cecil had did with her body. Mike would of been 5 years old when his mother went missing but withheld his dna until his fathers passing in my opinion. I am trying to get a copy of this article from my MIL however she can not find the clipping now. I dont know why none of the data bases were never updated.

So was her body found and positively identified? What were the particulars?
