NY - Seven-foot-tall head found floating in Hudson

  • #81
I go into brainlock sometimes when attempting a pun is concerned; I feel like, when one's made, I was as the small terrier dog in a pack of compatriots, all of whom grovel and stand and sit and beg, anything to attract the human hand ready to toss down the proffered morsel. And then - oh dear! - a larger dog's got it and is prancing around, perhaps giving it a good shaking, then seeming to swallow whole that illustrious slice of meat.

But, regarding puns, I too can get on a roll. (But then there's no room for the butter.)

The Monkees' sixth album (and soundtrack to their rarely seen film of the same name) is called "Head."

A cut from it, in keeping with the nautical theme:

Come on.....no need to bite my head off! We're all on edge after yesterday's shocking Mount Rushmore headline: "Stunned World Collectively Gasps in Shock at Mt. Rushmore Head Stealing Caper"

In the 3 third post in this forum topic I gave a honest and serious guess as to where this may have come from. Not 1 person addressed it .or if it was even possible ?

So glad you've come back! Kudos, for starting this thread...you, sir or ma'am are a maven...a catalyst....an inspirer of punnage! ...yes, the puns around here are morphing for sure and not in a good way (morphologically speaking).

I hand you back your baton & (the good Lord willing and the creek don't rise) command over your thread. Ah, and this one parting gift:

In one more example of the overly litigious society we live in, the giant floating head is being sued by Norelco (maker of electric shavers) for trademark infringement.

Yes... I am certain our flealess leader, wfgodot, is scratching his head...

wondering how his seemingly innocent triviality has morphed into an extensive avenue of MINDless frivolity!!!

I love it! I was thinking this would probably be just another wfgodot oddball thread - 18 people see it, two post comments, and the thing then sinks to the bottom of, say, the Hudson.

This thread has me thinking, still in the realm of puns but in a different direction. Does anyone know the "sayings" that have to do with time? I'm not sure how to explain it, but for example (and the only one I can remember!):

2:30 Tooth-hurty = time for the dentist

Dumb, yes... but there are more out there... if I could only remember!

At the top of my head... I can't think of any...

but... To prevent the mods from giving us Time Outs... We might want to avoid anything having to do with the minutes/hours of six...

for example.....

"What are your plans?"

"Well... It is Sex Four Two 2 Nite! (6:42 p.m.)

lol! You're just TWO much, clue :) Obviously safer to just stick to the HEADline topic :)

BTW... I first thought that head belonged to a female, now I think it might be a BUOY!!

Hi CanManEh!

sorry this thread got kind of derailed...

Paul... On post #2... Shows a pic of the head before it landed in the river...

JusticeForever... On post #32.....discovered it is made of styrofoam and fiberglass.. And could have been an art project...

Just Judy.. On post 38 ... Shared a theory that it was once part of Mardi Gras float that went astray...

I thought your theory that it could have traveled from Japan's tsunami was a good one...

But.... I don't think anyone has stepped forth to take credit for the work of art yet... :dunno:

ETA... Oh... And Wfgodot ... Post 102... Gives more information about it too!
