OMG, how terrifying that must have been for the victims to witness this prior to their deaths. I just can't imagine the pain they endured.

Horrific. Imagine someone tying a six year old's hands behind their back. Someone hated those children as much as he/she hated their mother and her partner. If this turns out to be a bitter ex, who did it because she had left him for a woman, and took his children from him, that there tells you how much he loved his children.

OTOH, one with a gun could have accomplished this in the most horrific way...to force the victims to sit with hands tied behind their backs...and then watch while each one was killed with a knife to the throat.

I'm going with a spurned lover, male or female, for either of the adults. Hoping the killer was not a father to these children.

Agreed. It’s not quick or simple...a gun is far more removed. This is up close and personal. And planned. All IMO of course.

Maybe it’s because I’m a mom, but just imagining those poor children and what they realized was coming. It kills me. Wish I could go snuggle my little one right now. People become so deranged and so selfish. It’s unreal.

It is possible the knife was used to control, but harder for me to imagine if there was just a single perp.

The 'fact' that the victims were tied with their hands behind their backs certainly suggests someone strongly in control. The perp also likely delighted in having the restrained victims witnessing the deaths of the others before their turn came...probably children first, then the lover, and finally the mother.

We don't know the configuration of the basement space. If all four lived there, perhaps there were several rooms. The upper part of the house consisted of four separate units so maybe the basement was large and divided into individual rooms as well.

We also do not know the TOD. If the victims were confronted as they slept, compliance might have been more readily achieved with any weapon, one-by-one.

Horrific, no matter what happened. :-(

How brave do you have to be to tie a five year old's hands? She was going to hurt him/her if he/her didn't tie her hands? This was torture to the mother.

Not "brave" at all. I'm just trying to figure how all 4 victims were controlled before they were killed by knife slashes to their throats.

Who is "She"?
