Human remains found in Mastic Beach marsh, cops say

A human skeleton was found in a marsh in Mastic Beach Sunday after police was alerted to the discovery by a local group that picked up trash at the beach.

Hmmm is this close to Gilgo beach?

Around a 45-minute drive, according to Google maps. The location where this body was found isn't really close to any of the other LISK victims. I had the same thought, though. You never know.

Could have changed locations, but again 45 minutes away is quite the distance. Hope they can locate the family and they get closure.

Then again, Gilgo to Manorville is about the same distance as Gilgo to Mastic Beach (except Manorville is inland) so it's not unreasonable to consider a connection. Odds are it's unrelated, but still, hoping to see this person identified soon.

They give the location as "on Washington Drive near Forest Road East" in the marsh. That maps to this location: Google Maps

It's interesting to take the little yellow person for a walk around the area. It's only a block or so from some thickly settled areas.

Police ID Skeletal Remains As LI Woman Missing Since 2014
