A local mom is extremely worried about the whereabouts of her daughter who hasn’t been seen in almost a week.
“Emergency alert! Our daughter, Sonya Manning, is reported as a missing person. Last seen Sunday evening Jan. 21 around 8 p.m. leaving her place in Buffalo. Niagara Police found her car abandoned snowed-covered at Niagara Falls Park, N.Y purse and cell phone in vehicle on Wednesday. If anyone has any information please help by contacting us at 716-992-2369 or 716-361-9115. If she has been in contact with anyone please let us know, thank you.”

I can't view the whole thing due to a pay wall but I notice that the date of death is the same day she disappeared. I wonder if they found her and the missing database has not been updated? Or if they simply have decided she is most likely deceased and decided to have a memorial for the family to have a sense of closure?

I was wondering the same. I'm not positive on how long you need to wait before someone can be legally declared deceased but I don't feel like the time between her disappearance and this wouldn't be long enough. I would think they would have had to have found some significant evidence pointing to her being deceased. The only thing I can think of along those lines is a video of her falling into Niagara Falls (multiple MP cases in Niagara Falls have ended this way as there are cameras at hot suicide spots there).

I did poke around on the original post on Facebook and someone did post that they were sorry to see the obituary in the paper and another asking if she had been found but there was no response to either. All is quiet about this resolution. Of course, that is her family's right - I just hope there was a true resolution to this.

The article is now visible to me, there are no further information in any cause of death, but i somehow think it may be suicide.

This is Sonya's sister. Sonya's body was never recovered from Niagara Falls and believe it or not they don't have a whole lot of cameras there like you think they would. We are 99.9 percent sure Sonya took her life that evening on Jan 2018 . She had no identification or anything she left everything behind. She did have her 40 the birthday coming up in two months before this occured. She battled depression and bipolar for much of her life. She had previous suicide attempts. I guess this one was successful. It hurts not having closure of finding her remains but with time , therapy and signs that she is with me in spirit I have found a way to have some closure. I hope this helps to anyone who was interested in this case. Thanks for caring

Thank you so much for this update-- I'm sure it's still very painful for you. She seemed like such a beautiful person and our hearts are with you. I hope that the discussion above doesn't add to your pain of losing your sister--everyone has good intentions but I'm sure some of the discussion and sleuthing can seem abrasive to a loved one. We don't mean it that way, just hoping to put some puzzle pieces together.
Again, sorry for your loss and I pray your sister will be found and brought home so you can get closure.

What do you guys think?
