This article was posted 30 minutes ago by CBS New York--not sure if this is the new info that is from the presser CNN carried but most of us were unable to access. NYPD confirms they have "documents" indicating the girls were abused.

The Farea sisters had been staying at a "shelter-like facility" in Virginia after they reported abuse, NYPD says. Sources said the girls "would rather inflict harm on themselves, inflict suicide, than return to Saudi Arabia"

Really sounds like it could go either way--suicide or honor killing. Regardless, if the girls were hounded to suicide and their death itself is not considered a crime, I hope the NYPD and NoVA authorities look into the abuse they were hiding from at that VA shelter. Poor sweet girls.

Them entering the water alive hardly disqualifies foul play when duct tape is involved.

Not buying suicide here at all. Regardless, it sounds like the death was related to their culture/religion and that is incredibly sad.

Video of police press conference. Not sure if link will open up in this website.

That's certainly an interesting twist. I guess police must have ruled out that the brother or his associates were in contact with the sisters in the week prior to the discovery of their bodies.

Phug that. If your longtime abuser forces you to commit suicide to avoid future abuse. Then they should be held accountable as well. Jmo.

This is taking an interesting turn. Are the police so illogical that they believe that when a duct taped person enters the water alive, it must be suicide? What is going on behind the scenes to stop the investigation?
