I think the prosecution offered a plea bargain and the defense laughed in their faces. Maybe.

At a conference Monday:

Judge Robert Freehill met in chambers for more than half an hour with Senior Assistant District Attorney David Byrne, Chief Trial Assistant District Attorney John Geidel, counsel Richard Portale, co-counsel Jeffrey Chartier and the rest of the defense team.

Afterward, Freehill, who has barred lawyers from both sides from speaking to the media about the case, placed the gist of the conference on the court records: “This case will commence jury selection on Aug. 15. That date is still set.”

Graswald was not brought into the courtroom. She met with Portale in a secure attorney-client conference room.

It's unclear if any more conferences will be held before the trial starts.

I was coming here to see if this was posted yet. It really grinds my gears that she will only 1-4 years in jail and that time served will count towards that. SMH.

I guess she pled to this lesser charge in negotiations? It's a bit confusing as many of her actions and parts of her testimony seem to suggest more than 'negligence'.

Poughkeepsie Journal:

In an interview, Chief Assistant District Attorney Christopher Borek said Graswald's time served in the county jail will count toward her time in state prison. She will be immediately eligible for parole, he said.
