Thanks for your thoughtful post.
There are lots of loners who don't/didn't fit in at school. And, to your point, they don't end up as killers. Many actually find a spot in adult society and become quite successful once they escape the 'popularity cult' of high school.

There have always been bullies and there always will be. Luckily we're talking about it more and creating more awareness. Unfortunately, social media and the internet are more than offsetting this, as the 'rejected' individuals find others who amplify their feelings of hatred.

Another difference is simply the availability of guns. There are people in other countries who are bullied. But it's more difficult for them to act in such a violent way. Yes, they might drive a vehicle into people or stab them, but semi-automatic weapons are more effectively lethal.

Agreed. I was relentlessly bullied from 5th through 8th grades. I had to physically fight. I was an odd kid. Didn't fit in. Didn't have the right clothes. I had close friends but the "popular" kids despised me.

I developed a strong social anxiety. I fantasizes about burning down the school at night - not to hurt anyone but just not to have to go.

But I never wanted to kill anyone.

I think the factors that combine to create one of these creatures are never so simple. It's always complex. But certain things are pretty constant.

I think it is a memorial of sorts, not actual shoes of victims.
They are taking crime scene photos and cleaning the scene. This is the leftovers of the area that they pile up. They do not waste time taking victims shoes off at the scene, whether alive or deceased. This is from people running out of them or them coming off from force. This happens after a lot of incidents. It's definitely not random people's shoes that come to leave their shoes to memorialize victims.

And to add to your point, "kindergarten " just be nice", Mr. Roger's stuff, doesn't solve the issue of the ones who are actively alienating and frighting to other kids. Hard to befriend someone who you are genuinely repulsed by or afraid of. (and kids shouldn't be made to feel bad about avoiding these people that make them feel these things that's just good common sense! )

Hm. That's true.

But if he was just coming to kill his sister, why wear body armor?

Probably because he knew he'd have to shoot his way into and through the crowded bar to get to her.

He probably also knew there was a strong possibility someone else in that bar was armed.

Apparently, he had at least some level of interest in self-preservation...maybe he just wanted to ensure he stayed alive long enough to accomplish his evil, twisted "mission," whatever it was.

I carry the small 2 gram package of these with my cash and credit cards.
I have the larger ones in vehicles, emergency kits and backpacks we carry to events.
At least I feel marginally more prepared.

Yes. Anxiety. So much worse.

That was my very first thought especially after the baby in El Paso who's mother died and fell on him.

There are family pics I'm not sure why the media isn't using them?
There is no confirmation Megan's boyfriend is deceased. The incorrect reports about them being found in a car said both were deceased. Since we got the correct report that Megan was at the bar, the boyfriend being deceased hasn't been mentioned.

Here is Megan's facebook:

Geez. They look like a totally normal, average, happy family. Wth.

Has anyone else noticed that most of the known dead and injured in the Dayton shooting are black people ? Was Bett's sister involved with a black boyfriend and he did not approve ?................This seems an obvious possibility at this time, but the MSM are not touching this possibly racial motive ?..................moo

Could be the case.

Hadn't heard this

A witness tells @whiotv:

Except most mass shooters tend to have been the bullies according to studies. Maybe when people push back against their anti-social nastiness then the bully is said to be bullied?

That is one characteristics I keep noticing about mass killers. They have a history of bullying. Some have been bullied themselves, but they are more likely to bully.

Statistics on Bullying and School Shootings

Murderous Envy

Many are serial bullies like Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold, Seung-Hui Cho, Elliot Rodger, Andrew Kehoe, Charles Whitman, Nikolas Cruz, Devin Kelley, Omar Mateen, and Stephen Paddock.

I suspect many sexual predators have a history of bullying. That would be the case with Jeffrey Epstein, Larry Nassar, Jerry Sandusky, and Jimmy Savile.

Bullying should be a red flag.

I'm so sorry to read of all that's been happening. My heart can't even comprehend the scope of all this violence, and it's daily. This is terrible. :( Sending lots of love from Canada.

Maybe he was outside the door shooting into the crowd. When he started to walk in, someone hiding beside the door grabbed the gun and the police shot the shooter? Or did he mean someone grabbed the gun and the shooter shot him/her, and then the police shot the shooter? Confusing in moo

Yes, my impression is that someone grabbed the barrel of the gun as he tried to come into the bar. That's when he was shot by police. There were a lot of civilian heroes last night as well. In addition to the one who grabbed his gun there were people doing CPR, trying to stop bleeding, transporting people to hospitals...
